Gospel songstress Rev. Obaapa Christy has opened up about her approach to education, stating that formal classroom learning is not something she plans to return to.
She addressed public perceptions that some Ghanaian gospel artists, including herself, struggle with English fluency.
She acknowledged that she doesn’t have a strong academic background but emphasized that her ministry is driven by spiritual depth.
“For me, it’s not about speaking perfect English. I may not be fluent, but I have the Holy Spirit. He gives me the lyrics. That’s what matters most in ministry.”

The Ghanaian gospel singer released her new album, Odeneho (The Sovereign One). During a side event to launch the new album officially released for streaming on July 31, the singer was seen on stage with her son, Junior.
The programme was patronised by many celebrities, including Uncle Ato, Adwoa Jannis, Emelia Brobbey, and Brother Sammy.
Junior joined his mum on stage to perform their song ‘Thank You Jesus’, track three off the newly released 12-track Odeneho album, which features Brother Sammy and Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.
Obaapa Christy began her part and skillfully ushered her son in as they entertained the distinguished guests at the programme.
Gospel singer, Uncle Ato, was among several celebrities seen on their feet dancing and clapping as Obaapa Christy performed ‘Thank You Jesus’ with her son.
The mother and son’s performance also intrigued scores of netizens online who have religiously followed Obaapa Christy’s efforts in raising and training Junior to take after her strides in the music industry.
A video of their performance has garnered significant traction on social media.
While some fans extoled Junior’s vocals during the performance, others couldn’t help but identify the resemblance between the youngster and the singer’s former husband, Pastor Love.
