The highly anticipated concert, as part of his extensive ‘Alive Tour’, has been celebrated for showcasing his captivating artistry across various cities.

For a thrilling two hours, Davido commanded the stage, delivering an exhilarating performance filled with his chart-topping hits like ‘Risky’, ‘Fall’, and ‘If’, alongside newer tracks that have resonated with his dedicated fanbase.

The atmosphere inside the Pavilion was electric, with fans of all ages singing, dancing, and waving their hands in unison, creating a vibrant tapestry of energy and enthusiasm.

The concert was especially historic, marking Davido as the first African artist to sell out this renowned venue, a testament to his global appeal and the rising influence of Afrobeats on the international music scene.

X users erupted with excitement as fans took to their handles to celebrate this significant achievement.

One user, @Clinton36, remarked that “Now, I understand why some people are jealous of Davido; he’s doing what many American artists can’t and making a considerable impact while doing it.”

Another fan, @Folarin_bobo, echoed the sentiment, stating that “This is true greatness! It’s all about how hard you work and the support system you have. Let the haters keep hating because they only fuel his success.”

As Davido continues his ‘Alive Tour’, the sold-out Merriweather Post Pavilion serves as a landmark moment not only in his career but also for Afrobeats, solidifying its place in the global music landscape.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, travelled to the United States to attend the white wedding of his nephew and Afrobeat singer, Davido.

The trip took place a few days ago, according to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

This followed growing concerns about Adeleke’s public absence, especially from the opposition All Progressives Congress in the state.

According to Rasheed, “Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago for the wedding of the global music icon, his beloved nephew, David Adeleke.”

“His Excellency is extending an invitation to the opposition party to attend the event and share in the joy of the occasion with the Adeleke family. Those unable to attend may join virtually.”

Olawale Rasheed

Davido had earlier confirmed in April that he and his partner, Chioma Avril Rowland, would hold their white wedding in Miami, Florida, this August.

Rasheed explained that the governor had not gone on any official break since assuming office in November 2022 and had chosen to keep the current trip short.

“Additionally, from the November 2022 date, the Governor has not gone on official vacation. For this current trip, the Governor has again chosen to make it a short one to continually attend to crucial state functions.”

Olawale Rasheed

He added that Adeleke is in close communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is currently overseeing government affairs in the state.

Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, the Osun APC demanded full details of Adeleke’s travel, claiming that the governor abandoned the state without transmitting power to his deputy.

“The question being asked in hushed tones in some public places, inside commercial buses, and by motorcycle riders and their passengers in the state, is where the whereabouts of their governor for this long.

“As the governor of all and sundry, we as a party need to know the whereabouts of the governor and who has been holding fort for him during his absence from the state since two weeks ago. Did the governor duly transmit power to his deputy, who is constitutionally covered to temporarily step into the shoes of his principal in his absence?”

The party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi
