Tinubu Pledges Equity In National Development Drive

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable national development, stressing that every Nigerian, regardless of region, will benefit from government projects and reforms.

In a statement posted on X, President Tinubu declared, “I took an oath to serve all Nigerians, not a section. That oath guides every bridge, road, rail, power, and health project we deliver.”

The president highlighted that the ongoing infrastructure projects across the country are not regional triumphs but shared national assets designed to unify and uplift citizens. He cited major initiatives such as the Lagos–Calabar Highway in the South, the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway in the North, the Port Harcourt–Maiduguri rail line in the East, the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway in the Centre, and the Trans-Saharan highway linking African countries.

According to him, these investments represent a vision for national integration rather than isolated development. “These are not local trophies. They are our national assets,” Tinubu emphasized.

The president also outlined progress in social and economic sectors, noting that health centres are being rehabilitated nationwide, light rail projects in Kano, Kaduna, Lagos, and Ogun have been approved, and employment opportunities are expanding with the creation of 250,000 new jobs.

Renewed Hope Agenda Driving Unity

In the power sector, he pointed to the revival of the 255MW power plant in Kaduna, which is expected to significantly boost electricity supply to the region. Bridges in Onitsha and Bonny, he added, are reconnecting communities, while oil exploration is expanding into Bauchi and Gombe. The AKK pipeline, according to him, has now crossed the River Niger, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.

President Tinubu underscored that these interventions are not abstract policy achievements but are directly tied to the needs of ordinary Nigerians.

“Every farmer who needs a road, every trader who needs power, every child who needs a school, every patient who needs care… this is who we are building for.”

The president framed the government’s efforts as part of his Renewed Hope agenda, which seeks to eliminate inequality in development outcomes and give all citizens a sense of belonging.

“This is the equity of Renewed Hope. No Nigerian is second class, no region is left behind,” he said, promising a united push for national advancement.

Tinubu closed his remarks with an optimistic call for collective progress, asserting that the country’s diversity is its strength. “Together we will rise as one nation, one people, and one destiny. Bet on Nigeria,” he declared.

His message comes as Nigeria continues to face pressing challenges, including economic reforms, infrastructure deficits, and security threats. Yet, by highlighting ongoing projects and pledging fairness in their distribution, the president sought to assure Nigerians of his government’s determination to prioritize inclusive development.

Observers note that the projects listed reflect some of the administration’s biggest infrastructure commitments, spanning roads, railways, energy, and healthcare. For many, the president’s emphasis on equitable distribution resonates in a nation where regional disparities often dominate political discourse.

By reiterating his oath and the guiding principle of serving “all Nigerians, not a section,” Tinubu aims to strengthen public trust and reinforce the perception of his government as one determined to unify the nation through tangible development outcomes.
