Ghana’s energy landscape received a significant boost with the official launch of Optima Solar Systems, a renewable energy company determined to transform access to clean, affordable, and reliable electricity.

The company’s entry comes at a time when Ghanaians are grappling with high electricity tariffs, frequent power cuts, and growing demand for energy, issues that continue to challenge households, businesses, and communities.

At the launch, Mrs. Regina Tagoe, Business Development Manager of Optima Solar Systems Ghana, outlined the company’s mission to empower Ghanaians with sustainable energy alternatives.

“Our goal is to transform the way Ghanaians power their lives. We believe reliable electricity should not be a luxury, but a basic necessity.

“Optima Solar is committed to delivering world-class solar technology that not only saves money but also protects the environment and ensures a 24/7 uninterrupted power supply.”

Optima Solar Systems has introduced a wide range of solar-powered products designed to suit the country’s diverse energy needs.

From affordable residential solar packages that reduce household bills and provide backup during outages, to industrial-scale solar systems for hotels, hospitals, schools, and factories, the company aims to make solar technology central to Ghana’s energy future.

Mrs. Tagoe highlighted the versatility of the company’s offerings, which extend beyond electricity generation.

Optima is deploying solar-powered water pumps for irrigation and rural water supply, solar heaters for homes and institutions, and solar CCTV systems that ensure constant security even during power outages.

The company is also rolling out streetlights and floodlights powered entirely by the sun to improve community safety after dark.

Perhaps most notably, Optima has developed rural electrification packages tailored for off-grid communities, a move that complements government’s push towards universal electricity coverage by 2030.

Ghana’s energy sector has undergone significant expansion in recent decades, but rising tariffs and dependence on expensive fossil fuels continue to burden both households and industries.

Renewable energy adoption remains modest, with solar accounting for only a small fraction of national generation.

Optima Solar Systems sees this as an opportunity. The company’s entry aligns with the government’s sustainable development agenda, which prioritises renewable energy, carbon reduction, and green job creation.

By investing in solar, Optima is positioning itself as more than a service provider; it is a strategic partner in Ghana’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy economy.

“Energy security is critical to Ghana’s growth.

“With solar power, families can save money, businesses can stay productive, farmers can irrigate their lands, and communities can stay safe with brighter streets. Optima Solar is here to make that future a reality.”

To ensure customer confidence, Optima Solar Systems has set up service centres across the country and trained a nationwide network of professional technicians.

The company also stressed its commitment to quality and sustainability. By using durable equipment and global best practices, Optima hopes to build trust in solar energy as a viable, long-term alternative to grid dependence.

For many rural and underserved communities, access to electricity remains elusive. Optima’s rural electrification packages could therefore play a critical role in bridging the gap.

These systems, designed to power homes, schools, and health facilities in off-grid areas, not only expand energy access but also foster inclusive development.

By targeting both urban and rural customers, Optima Solar Systems is positioning itself as a national player, offering solutions that resonate with different segments of society.

From middle-income families in Accra seeking to cut bills, to farmers in northern Ghana in need of affordable irrigation systems, the company’s portfolio is deliberately broad and inclusive.

For now, Optima Solar Systems says its priority is to deliver reliable products, build strong community partnerships, and demonstrate that solar energy can work for every Ghanaian.
