The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of three individuals following a shooting incident at the Celebrity Golf Club area in Sakumono, Accra, on October 18, 2025.
The suspects – 28-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, 23-year-old Eric Asare, and 48-year-old Felix Darko – were apprehended by the Sakumono District Police Command after they were found to have unlawfully entered a construction site and discharged firearms.
According to Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, the suspects falsely claimed to be operatives of the National Security Secretariat before storming the construction site of one of the executives of the Celebrity Golf Club.
She added that the men “unlawfully discharged firearms, causing damage to parts of the property.”
Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that the violent incident was linked to an ongoing land dispute involving some parties within the Nungua Traditional Council. The suspects are currently in custody, assisting police investigations.

Police sources have connected the confrontation to a long-standing land disagreement under the jurisdiction of the Nungua Traditional Council. The area, which has been the subject of multiple legal and ownership controversies in recent years, has reportedly drawn tensions among developers and traditional custodians of the land.
The police emphasized that no individual or group, regardless of influence or affiliation, is above the law. “All three suspects are currently in custody, assisting police investigations,” the statement reiterated, underscoring the command’s determination to ensure justice in the matter.
Ongoing Investigations
The Accra Regional Police Command stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing, and efforts are being made to track down other individuals potentially involved.

“Investigation continues, and further details will be communicated in due course” Superintendent Obeng stated.
The police have since heightened patrols in the Sakumono enclave and other parts of Accra to prevent further disturbances. Superintendent Juliana Obeng, speaking on behalf of the regional command, warned against acts of lawlessness, particularly those tied to land disputes.
“The Accra Regional Police Command – assures the public that those found culpable will face the full rigours of the law,” she added.
The shooting incident has renewed national discussions about the frequent intersection of land disputes and violent confrontations in parts of the Greater Accra Region. Observers note that such occurrences often involve individuals falsely claiming affiliation with state security agencies to intimidate rival claimants.
Authorities have reiterated that the government will continue to enforce existing laws on land administration and criminal conduct. The Ministry of the Interior has also stressed that law enforcement agencies will not tolerate any actions that threaten public safety or undermine property rights.
The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to provide credible information that can aid ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, the three suspects – Abubakar Mohammed, Eric Asare, and Felix Darko – remain in custody as investigations progress under the supervision of the Accra Regional Police Command.
