Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon, Young Apostles defender Claude Shooting Bortey, and Basake Holy Stars goalkeeper Dubi Tayi Kassi have been honoured with the top individual accolades in the Ghana Premier League for their outstanding performances in the month of March.
The trio emerged as the standout performers in their respective categories following a month of impressive displays that significantly impacted their clubs’ fortunes.
Dormon was named NASCO Coach of the Month after guiding Dreams FC through an unbeaten run in March. The tactician led his side in four matches, recording three wins and one draw, a sequence that underlined both tactical discipline and consistency.
His team’s performances were particularly notable for their balance. Dreams FC scored six goals while conceding just once, reflecting a solid defensive structure alongside efficient attacking play.
The results helped Dreams FC maintain strong momentum in the league and reinforced Dormon’s growing reputation as one of the sharpest managers in the domestic game.
He beat competition from Basake Holy Stars’ Johnson Smith to secure the award. As part of his prize, Dormon will receive a 43-inch NASCO television set and a NASCO double-door bottom-freezer refrigerator, courtesy of Electroland Ghana Limited.
Bortey and Kassi Shine in Player and Goalkeeper Categories
In the player of the month category, Young Apostles defender Claude Bortey stood out with a series of match-winning performances. Despite playing in a defensive role, Bortey contributed significantly in attack, scoring three goals during the month.
His all-round displays, which combined defensive solidity with attacking threat, earned him one Man of the Match award and placed him ahead of strong contenders including Setsofia Aqetey of Vision FC and Samuel Okai of Bechem United.
Bortey’s performances have been crucial to Young Apostles’ campaign, with his ability to influence games at both ends of the pitch making him one of the most impactful players in the league during the period under review.
Like Dormon, Bortey will also receive a 43-inch NASCO television and a NASCO double-door bottom-freezer refrigerator, reinforcing the league’s commitment to rewarding excellence.
Meanwhile, Basake Holy Stars goalkeeper Dubi Tayi Kassi claimed the Goalkeeper of the Month award after a flawless run between the posts. The shot-stopper was instrumental in his team’s unbeaten stretch, which included two wins and two draws.
Kassi’s most remarkable achievement was keeping four consecutive clean sheets, a feat that highlighted his sharp reflexes, positioning, and command of the penalty area.
His consistency provided a strong foundation for Basake Holy Stars, ensuring they remained difficult to break down and climbing up the Ghana Premier League log.
He edged out competition from Dreams FC’s Gidios Aseako and Karela United’s Daniel Afadzwu to secure the honour.
Unlike the other award winners, Kassi’s prize package will be provided by the Ex-Goalkeepers Union and includes a branded towel, water bottles, and a T-shirt.
The GPL end of month awards, backed by NASCO, continue to recognize and celebrate outstanding performances in the Ghana Premier League. The initiative not only motivates excellence but also adds competitive value to the league.
