In a move sending ripples of excitement across the Ghanaian music scene and its global diaspora, rising Afro-fusion star Moliy and rap icon Sarkodie are set to release a joint track this summer.

The announcement, made via music analytics platform Tune Stats on May 22, has already generated significant buzz, with fans hailing it as a dream pairing of generational talent.

The post, which featured sleek promotional visuals, simply read: “OUT THIS SUMMER, MOLIY & SARKODIE.” It quickly amassed thousands of views and positive reactions, with comments like “Ghana stand up” and “Crazy collab”  flooding in.

While details about the title, producer, or exact release date remain under wraps, the collaboration is expected to blend Moliy’s smooth, dancehall-infused vocals with Sarkodie’s sharp, lyrical rap delivery.

Born Moliy Ama Montgomery on October 4, 2001, in Accra, the 24-year-old Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter has rapidly ascended as one of Africa’s most exciting new voices. Raised between Ghana and Orlando, Florida, Moliy draws from a rich mix of influences from Ghanaian highlife and reggae to American R&B, pop, and Caribbean dancehall.

Her breakthrough came with the 2021 track “Sad Girlz Luv Money” alongside Amaarae and Kali Uchis, which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it was her 2024/2025 hit “Shake It to the Max (Remix)” featuring Shenseea, Skillibeng, and Silent Addy that catapulted her to new heights.

The high-energy Afro-dancehall track earned her the Best International Collaboration award at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) in May 2026. It contributed to her winning iHeartRadio’s World Music Artist of the Year.

Moliy is currently building momentum with her upcoming 11-track mixtape BADDIES LOVE MOLIY, slated for summer release via Gamma. The project promises bold Y2K visuals and a fusion of Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, and Azonto. Sarkodie is among the featured artists, alongside heavyweights like Tyla, Mavado, Melissa, Skillibeng, and Shenseea.

Moliy has described this era as her “creative director” phase, focusing on empowering, party-ready anthems that celebrate self-confidence and baddie energy.

The Undisputed Rap GOAT

On the other side of this collaboration stands Michael Owusu Addo, professionally known as Sarkodie. Born July 10, 1985, in Tema, the 40-year-old veteran is widely regarded as Ghana’s greatest rapper and one of Africa’s most decorated hip-hop artists.

With a career spanning nearly two decades, Sarkodie has mastered the blend of hip-hop, hiplife, and Afrobeats, amassing numerous awards, including multiple BET recognitions.

Known for his technical lyricism, wordplay, and business acumen (including his Sarkcess Music label), Sarkodie remains a dominant force. He continues to headline major events, such as his historic Rapperholic concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and frequently collaborates with both established and emerging artists.

His involvement in Moliy’s project signals strong intergenerational support within Ghana’s music ecosystem.

The Moliy-Sarkodie pairing represents more than just another feature; it symbolizes the evolving dynamics of Ghanaian music in 2026. While veteran male rappers like Sarkodie have long anchored the industry, a new wave of female and genre-bending talents like Moliy is pushing boundaries and achieving global traction

Their collaboration could bridge hiplife/hip-hop roots with contemporary Afro-fusion sounds, appealing to both local fans and international audiences.

Industry observers note that Ghanaian artists are increasingly leveraging cross-generational and international partnerships to elevate the scene. Moliy’s recent TGMA win and growing streaming numbers, combined with Sarkodie’s massive platform, position this release for significant impact.

Early fan reactions suggest high anticipation for a potential summer banger that could dominate playlists from Accra to New York and London.

This union also highlights the broader renaissance in Ghanaian music. With artists like Black Sherif, Gyakie, and Stonebwoy making waves globally, and events like the TGMA celebrating excellence, the industry is experiencing renewed energy. Moliy’s mixtape and this specific collab are poised to contribute to that momentum.

As details emerge in the coming weeks, expectations are high.mFans are already speculating on social media, with many calling it a “perfect match” for Ghana’s vibrant sound.
