Nations FC have been relegated from the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League despite beating Karela United 1-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Sunday afternoon.
Brandon Antwi Sarpong scored the game’s only goal as early as the 14th minute and it ultimately proved telling as the Abrankese-based club secured all three points on the final day of the season.
Nations FC entered the final round of matches needing victory and favourable results elsewhere to survive, but outcomes at other venues failed to go in their favour.
The defeat means they join Hohoe United, who withdrew from the league earlier in the season, and Eleven Wonders as the three clubs relegated from the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Nations FC ended the campaign with 44 points in what was only their third season in the top flight since earning promotion and debuting in the 2023-24 campaign.

The club’s fate was confirmed after results from several relegation rivals swung against them in dramatic fashion on the final day.
Swedru All Blacks secured their Premier League status with an impressive 2-1 come back victory over Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Young Apostles also ensured survival after cruising to a 2-0 win over FC Samartex 1996, while Vision FC hammered Aduana FC 3-0 to stay above the drop zone.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea edged Bechem United 3-2 in another crucial encounter to preserve their place in the top flight for next season.
For Nations FC, the disappointment of relegation will be difficult to take considering they managed to secure victory away from home on the final day.
However, the club still has the opportunity to end the season with silverware when they face Dreams FC in the final of the 2025-26 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium on May 31.
Results From Other League Centers
While Nations FC endured heartbreak, the final round of fixtures across the country produced plenty of goals and drama.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak ended the season on a high note with a commanding 4-2 victory over newly crowned champions Medeama SC.
It was the first time this season that the Phobians had scored more than two goals in a league game, and they did so emphatically against the title winners.
Hamza Issah returned to the scoresheet in style with a brace, while Mawuli Wayo also got on the scoresheet in an entertaining encounter that thrilled the home supporters.

There were goals galore in Bibiani where Gold Stars recorded a resounding 8-3 victory over already relegated Eleven Wonders in one of the highest-scoring matches of the season.
Striker Samuel Atta Kumi was the standout performer, netting five goals in the contest to take his tally for the campaign to 18 goals. His remarkable performance capped off an outstanding season in front of goal for the prolific attacker.
Dreams FC also boosted confidence ahead of their MTN FA Cup final clash after recording a convincing 4-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars. The Still Believe lads looked sharp in attack and will head into the cup final with momentum as they prepare to face relegated Nations FC on May 31.
The final day of the Ghana Premier League season delivered excitement, goals and heartbreak across several centres, with the relegation battle going down to the wire.

Although Nations FC secured the result they needed against Karela United, survival ultimately slipped away because of victories for their direct rivals elsewhere.
Their attention will now quickly turn to the MTN FA Cup final where they have the chance to end a painful season on a positive note by lifting silverware before preparing for life in the Division One League next season.
