Klopp’s Agent Dismisses Al-Ittihad Links To His Client

Reports emerged from Saudi football circles suggesting that Jurgen Klopp could be lined up for a surprise switch to Al-Ittihad Club, with claims of preliminary contact between the Saudi side and the German coach’s representatives.

The rumours gained traction on social platforms where discussions intensified around a possible high-profile appointment aimed at reshaping the club’s sporting direction.

Some versions of the story went further, describing a detailed framework in which Klopp would assume a strategic leadership role rather than a traditional touchline position. According to those claims, he would rely heavily on a delegated technical team to manage early-season fixtures, gradually embedding his influence over time while overseeing broader football operations.

The speculation reached a peak as it attempted to connect Klopp with immediate planning for the upcoming campaign, even suggesting involvement in early league matches through assistant-led matchday structures.

However, none of these narratives were backed by official sources or confirmed negotiations.

Responding to the growing noise, Klopp’s agent, Mark Kosicke, moved quickly to shut down the story. He was direct when asked about the reported discussions and only referred to the reports as mere rumour with no substance. “I never comment on this type of rumour.”

When pressed further on whether there was any realistic pathway for Klopp to move into Saudi football at this stage, the response was even more decisive. Kosicke dismissed the idea entirely. “There is no possibility of that.”

The clarification is consistent with Klopp’s current professional commitments. He remains tied to Red Bull’s football structure on a long-term deal running until 2029, having taken up the role in 2025 following his departure from Liverpool.

That move came after he ended a transformative spell at Anfield in 2024, where he spent nearly a decade building one of the most competitive sides in Europe.

During his time at Liverpool, the German coach reshaped the club’s identity, delivering major honours including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020.

His reputation since then has remained firmly linked to long-term project building rather than short-term managerial rotations, making sudden club-hopping speculation less credible when weighed against his recent career trajectory.

The renewed talk around Al-Ittihad also arrives at a sensitive moment for the Saudi side. The club has been assessing its technical direction after a mixed domestic campaign, with pressure mounting to improve on recent league performances.

Coaching stability has become a recurring issue, and reports have indicated discussions around potential changes at the top of the technical hierarchy.

Adding further intrigue, broader transfer rumours have linked high-profile names such as Mohamed Salah to Saudi football, fuelling narratives among supporters that Klopp and former key players could reunite in the region.

However, none of these scenarios have progressed beyond speculation, and no official confirmation has emerged from any involved party. For now, the message from Klopp’s camp is unambiguous.

The rumours may circulate widely, but they carry no foundation in current reality. The German coach remains committed to his existing role at the Red Bull Football Group, and the door to an immediate Saudi move has been firmly closed by those closest to him.
