Newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have officially presented the league trophy to headline sponsors AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine following the club’s title-winning campaign.
The presentation ceremony comes just a day after the Yellow and Mauves were handed their second-ever Ghana Premier League crown with a victory over Basake Holy Stars in the ceremonial coronation game at the Tarkwa TnA Stadium on Thursday.
Medeama capped off an impressive domestic season with 62 points, finishing two points above runners-up Bibiani GoldStars to reclaim the league title they won three seasons ago and reaffirm their status as one of Ghana’s fastest-rising football institutions.

Club officials, management, technical staff and players joined representatives of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine during the symbolic presentation, celebrating a partnership many within the club believe played a major role in their successful campaign.
Partnership Delivers Immediate Success
The sponsorship agreement between Medeama SC and AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine was announced in January 2026, with both parties committing to a one-year renewable partnership aimed at strengthening football development and community engagement in Tarkwa and it’s environs.

As part of the agreement, AngloGold Ashanti invested $200,000 into the club, providing crucial financial support that enhanced Medeama’s operational structure throughout the season.
The investment helped improve player welfare, logistics, technical preparations and overall club administration as Medeama mounted a consistent challenge for the title.
The partnership quickly became one of the most talked-about collaborations in Ghanaian football, especially after Medeama’s strong performances in the second half of the season propelled them to the summit of the league table.
During the presentation ceremony, officials of the club expressed appreciation to the mining company for backing the team at a crucial stage of its development.
The club described the sponsorship as more than a commercial relationship, insisting it represents a shared commitment to youth empowerment, sporting excellence and social impact within the Western Region.
According to AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, the partnership reflects its growing investment in sports as a vehicle for community transformation and youth development.
Company representatives reiterated their belief that football remains a powerful force for unity, discipline and opportunity among young people.
Focus Shifts to Continental Football
The success of the partnership has already triggered discussions about a possible extension beyond the current agreement, with both parties reportedly satisfied with the impact achieved during the first few months of collaboration.
After reclaiming the Ghana Premier League title, Medeama are now preparing for a return to continental competition, with attention firmly fixed on the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

Club president Moses Parker has already declared the club’s ambition to reach the group stage of the competition, stressing that Medeama are no longer satisfied with merely participating on the African stage.
The Tarkwa-based side previously gained valuable continental experience in recent years and are determined to build on that foundation as they prepare to represent Ghana once again against Africa’s elite clubs.
Medeama’s latest title triumph has also been viewed as a reward for the club’s long-term planning and investment in stability both on and off the pitch.
Over the past few seasons, the club has consistently positioned itself among the strongest teams in the country through strategic recruitment, improved infrastructure and administrative continuity.
The presentation of the trophy to AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine symbolised not only gratitude from the club to its sponsors, but also the growing connection between corporate Ghana and domestic football.
With the celebrations gradually winding down, Medeama’s focus now turns toward strengthening the squad for the challenges ahead. Expectations among supporters remain high as the Yellow and Mauves seek to translate their domestic dominance into success on the continental stage.
For Medeama SC, presenting the trophy to their headline sponsors was more than a ceremonial gesture. It was a statement that strategic partnerships, clear ambition and sustained investment can elevate Ghanaian clubs to new heights.
