Where do we go from Here

Ghanaian Afrobeats star KiDi has released the official cover art for his long-awaited third studio album, “Where Do We Go From Here,” set to hit all major streaming platforms on August 27, 2026.

The artwork, shared on social media, shows the singer, born Dennis Nana Dwamena, standing beside a red pickup truck at a fuel station under a dusky sky, captured through a dramatic fisheye lens. The stylised, chrome-lettered logo above the album title departs from the polished, colour-saturated aesthetic fans associate with his earlier work, leaning instead into a moodier, more cinematic look.

The reveal comes weeks after KiDi first announced the project on X, marking a full decade since he broke into the Ghanaian music scene. He described the album as a continuation of a journey built on years of hits and shared memories with fans, framing it as the next chapter rather than a farewell to what came before.

“Where Do We Go From Here” will be KiDi’s first full-length project since 2021’s “The Golden Boy,” which won Album of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and cemented his standing as one of the country’s most consistent hitmakers. His debut album, “Sugar,” released in 2019, earned similar recognition, taking the top album prize that year as well.

Between those two records and the new one lies a five-year gap that has seen KiDi release a steady stream of singles, including fan favourites “Odo,” “Say Cheese,” “Touch It” and “Adiepena,” alongside more recent offerings like “Babylon” and “Signature.”

What sets this rollout apart is the context surrounding it. KiDi parted ways with Lynx Entertainment, the outfit that shaped much of his early career, and now operates as an independent artist. That shift gives him more creative control over sound, visuals and release strategy.

The gas station imagery and open-road framing of the cover art could be read as a nod to that independence, a visual metaphor for charting one’s own path.

Public Reaction

Anticipation for the project has been building steadily since the announcement, with the hashtags #WhereDoWeGoFromHere and #WDWGFH trending among Ghanaian music fans online.

KiDi is expected to roll out further details in the coming weeks, including a full tracklist and information on collaborators. His team has also lined up promotional listening sessions in Accra and London ahead of the release date.

The London leg ties into a bigger milestone: KiDi is set to headline his first solo UK concert at HERE at Outernet on September 24, performing the new album in full just weeks after it drops.

The show adds international weight to an era that carries significant stakes for an artist who has spent nearly two years working on the project after first teasing it in 2024.

The release also lands as Ghana’s music industry enjoys heightened global visibility, with artists across the Afrobeats and highlife space pushing for wider recognition beyond the continent.

KiDi’s fusion of Afrobeats rhythms with highlife textures has long set him apart from peers, and the new album appears positioned to build on that identity while signalling artistic evolution.

The cover art’s setting is not incidental to that question either. A pickup truck idling at a petrol station, caught in the last light of evening, reads as a pause before the next leg of a journey rather than a destination in itself, an image that suits an artist who has spent nearly two years quietly building toward this release.

Album rollouts in Ghana’s contemporary music scene increasingly hinge on this kind of visual storytelling, where cover art and hashtag campaigns do as much work as the music itself in shaping expectations before a single track is heard.

KiDi’s decision to lean into a starker, more atmospheric aesthetic suggests a deliberate attempt to signal maturity and reinvention, distancing the project from the brighter visual language of “Sugar” and the polished sheen of “The Golden Boy.”

Fans on social media have already begun dissecting the cover for hidden meaning, with some pointing to the fisheye distortion as a metaphor for a changed perspective, and others reading the solitary figure standing apart from the vehicle as a nod to self-reliance.

With just over a week left before release, attention now turns to whatever KiDi shares next, be it a track-list, a lead single, or confirmation of features.

Ten years into his career, KiDi seems intent on making sure the answer is one he arrives at on his own terms.
