Accra is gearing up for a major night of Afrobeats as Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage prepares to take the stage at MAD Royale on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
The event, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at MAD Club in East Legon, promises an energetic evening of music, glamour and celebration for fans of the genre often called the Queen of Afrobeats.
The promotional poster features Savage in striking attire against a luxurious gold-and-black backdrop, with the venue listed as MAD Club on Lagos Avenue, next to DSTRKT 24. Table reservations can be made by calling +233 53 131 0989. Organisers from District Management and MAD Club are positioning the night as a high-profile takeover of the popular Accra nightlife spot.
Tiwa Savage, born Tiwatope Omolara Savage on 5 February 1980 in Lagos, Nigeria, has built one of the most successful careers in contemporary African music. After moving to London at age 11, she began performing as a backup singer for major artists including George Michael and Mary J. Blige while still a teenager.
She later studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and briefly appeared on the UK version of The X Factor before returning to Nigeria to pursue a solo career.
Her breakthrough came with the 2013 debut album Once Upon a Time, which produced hits such as “Kele Kele Love” and “Eminado.” Subsequent releases, including the R.E.D album and the critically acclaimed Celia, solidified her status as a leading female voice in Afrobeats. Savage became the first woman to win Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2018.
She has collaborated with global stars, contributed to Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack, and performed at high-profile events including the coronation concert for King Charles III.
In recent years Savage has expanded beyond music. She made her acting debut in the 2024 film Water & Garri, which she also executive-produced, and launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation to support emerging African talent. In 2026 the foundation partnered with Berklee College of Music to award scholarships worth more than $2 million to young Nigerian musicians.
She continues to release new material, including the upbeat single “Energy” featuring Wande Coal and Mavo earlier this year.
The Accra appearance comes shortly after Savage shared stages with Ghanaian artists. Just days ago she joined Stonebwoy for performances at BhimFest UK, where the pair delivered energetic collaborations that circulated widely on social media. Her upcoming MAD Royale set is expected to draw a mix of local fans, expatriates and visitors eager to experience her live showmanship in an intimate club setting rather than a large festival ground.
MAD Club has established itself as a key venue in Accra’s East Legon nightlife scene, known for hosting international acts and upscale events. The “Royale” branding suggests a premium experience with carefully curated production, VIP tables and a focus on creating memorable nights. Organisers are encouraging early arrival to avoid long queues and to enjoy the full atmosphere before Savage takes the stage.

For many Ghanaian music lovers, the booking represents another strong cultural exchange between Nigeria and Ghana, two powerhouses of West African entertainment. Afrobeats has grown into a global phenomenon, and artists of Savage’s stature help maintain the vibrant cross-border connections that keep the genre evolving.
Public Reaction
Fans can expect a setlist drawing from her extensive catalogue of romantic anthems, dancefloor favourites and empowering tracks, delivered with the polished stage presence that has defined her career for more than a decade.
Tickets are already available, and demand is expected to rise quickly as word spreads. Those planning to attend are advised to book tables in advance given the limited capacity of a club venue compared with open-air concerts.
The event also offers an opportunity for younger artists and industry professionals in Accra to network in an environment celebrating African excellence.
Savage’s visit adds to a busy period for live music in Ghana. The country continues to attract major international performers while nurturing its own stars such as Black Sherif, Stonebwoy and others who regularly share stages with Nigerian counterparts.

For Accra’s nightlife scene, nights like MAD Royale with Tiwa Savage help elevate the city’s reputation as a destination for quality entertainment. As the countdown to 22 August begins, anticipation is building.
