U.S. President, Donald Trump.

US President, Donald Trump has announced the formation of a new federal body, the “Super Intelligence Force” (SIF), to coordinate the US government’s efforts to maintain American leadership in advanced artificial intelligence.

Trump made the announcement in a post on social media, saying that the new force would bring together federal agencies and coordinate the government’s engagement with technology companies, consumers, public interest groups, religious organisations and providers of critical infrastructure.

The announcement comes days after Trump hosted senior executives from some of the world’s leading AI companies at the White House, where they agreed to a voluntary set of commitments concerning the development and oversight of advanced AI systems. The White House Accord on Super Intelligence calls on companies developing frontier models to establish internal controls, monitoring systems and independent external assessments, while also creating board-level oversight of those safeguards.

Trump has increasingly referred to artificial intelligence as “super intelligence,” seeking to establish the terminology as part of his administration’s approach to the rapidly developing technology. On September 29, he signed an executive order directing federal departments and agencies to replace the terms “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” with “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in executive branch communications and policy documents.

In announcing the new force, Trump linked the initiative directly to what he described as a historic agreement between the US government and leading technology companies. “Following the Historic White House Accord on Super Intelligence, where the World’s most important Technology Companies came together, and confirmed their responsibilities to the American People, I am announcing the formation of the Super Intelligence Force (SIF),” Trump wrote.

He stated that the force would be responsible for coordinating the federal government’s efforts to ensure that the United States remains at the forefront of the technology.

“The Super Intelligence Force is tasked with coordinating the effort of the Federal Government to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence, which many say is bigger than the Industrial Revolution, and the Internet, and will protect the interests, and improve the lives, of all Americans.”

The initiative places advanced AI within a broader government framework that extends beyond technology policy. According to Trump, the SIF will engage with consumers and public interest organisations while also working with religious organisations, critical infrastructure providers and companies developing what his administration calls super intelligence.

The announcement also follows the administration’s effort to encourage technology companies to take greater responsibility for managing the risks associated with increasingly powerful AI systems. The voluntary accord signed at the White House calls for companies to monitor their models during training and deployment, establish internal teams to oversee those controls, use independent external auditors or evaluators and create board-level committees to supervise the process.

The accord describes the measures as a way to build confidence among companies, customers and the public while acknowledging that some of the commitments could eventually be incorporated into laws or regulations.

Trump’s latest initiative therefore brings together two elements of his administration’s AI strategy: maintaining US technological leadership while encouraging the industry to take responsibility for the development and safety of advanced systems.

Super Intelligence Force To Be Led By Jay Clayton

Trump said that the Super Intelligence Force will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, alongside Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.

The four officials bring responsibilities spanning intelligence, technology, regulation and the federal workforce to the new initiative. The group will report to Trump and White House Chief of staff, Susie Wiles as it coordinates the government’s engagement with the technology sector and other groups affected by AI development.

Clayton’s involvement places national intelligence at the centre of the administration’s efforts to coordinate policy around advanced AI. The new body is expected to address the technology from multiple government perspectives rather than treating it solely as a commercial or scientific issue.

Trump has argued that maintaining American leadership in the technology is essential to protecting US interests. In his announcement, he described the potential significance of super intelligence as exceeding that of major technological transformations of the past.

The initiative also comes as the United States competes with other countries for leadership in advanced AI development. Trump’s administration has increasingly framed technological leadership as an issue involving economic competitiveness, national security and the interests of American consumers.
