2024 Elections: NPP Will Struggle To Win Trust Of Ghanaians – Asah Asante

Dr. Kwame Asa Asante, a political scientist and a lecturer of the University of Ghana (UG), said the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will have a difficult task campaigning ahead of the 2024 election.

This is officially because the former Trade Minister Alan Kyremanten as part of his campaign tour at Sewfi-Wiaso, admitted that the economic crisis will affect NPP’s chances in the 2024 election.

As such, Mr. Asante advised the NPP to organize itself and campaign to win the trust of Ghanaians. He mentions that this is due to the fact that the NPP Party has a lot of accountabilities to give Ghanaians on the economy, as well as policies they implemented in order to have the chance again to govern the nation.

“Certainly there is going to be a challenge but people like him and others who want to take that high office within their time should be able to help the government succeed in this area. Because if you use the direct principle of State Policy, infrastructure must be done and done throughout the country. These are things people need and want to find answers to when they get to the ground.”

Dr. Asa Asante

Mr. Asante further stated that the NPP will have a herculean task convincing Ghanaians, adding that all the NPP needs is to organize themselves in order not to fail Ghanaians.

“The campaign is going to be difficult for NPP. That I’m sorry to say, because you need to explain to Ghanaians how far we have come. Even if you fix the economy there is going to be some problem that yes it was the IMF that came to your rescue and all that. They must have the answers to these questions”.

Dr. Asa Asante

Dr. Asa Asante claimed that all is not hopeless, because victory on behalf of the NPP depends on their ability to organize themselves, turn things round and win the trust of the people against the backdrop of all the things and wrong policies that have been done.

Thus, they are able to turn a new leaf in no time and would be able to bring the confidence of the people that will make the campaign a little easier, otherwise they have more tasks ahead.

Also, the political science lecturer included in his speech that he knows as a human being, nothing is difficult, nothing is too least to perform, but then with the proper plan, things work out eventually.

The Kenkey Parties Have Made Him ‘Drunk’

Moreover, Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a Political Science lecturer, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has asked Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to resign before he causes more mess to the economy than he already has.

He said the Finance Minister who seems to have been ‘drunk’ from the kenkey parties he organized after he had borrowed money does not have any clue again as to how he would help bring the country back on track.

He explained that President Akufo-Addo should have been the one to fire him for non-performance, but since he has refused to do so, the Finance Minister himself should resign and not continue to exert further hardship on Ghanaians. He blamed the President for this misdemeanor before the Finance Minister.

According to Dr. Amoako Baah, the Finance Minister now is bereft of ideas, as all he is doing now is to borrow to fund the already ailing economy he created, and he cannot continue to mess up the economy and the livelihood of people like that.

“I really liked him. I thought he was honest, but now I have seen he is not honest. He will be talking about the word of God but all he says is not true.”

Dr. Richard Amoako Baah

Dr. Amoako Baah said Ofori Atta should resign if the President who is his employer is refusing to fire him because they claim to be family.

“His poor management skills has led Ghana to the kind of mess we are in now and even with his Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, he is still finding it difficult to have it implemented and causing so much pain to even pensioners.”
