Musician and record producer, Kgaogelo Moagi, known professionally as Master KG has had his hit song ‘Jerusalema’, chosen by Jay-Z as one of his Top 40 songs for the year 2020.

The South African DJ has won multiple awards for the world-renowned song but he didn’t expect to be recognized by the ‘Dirt Off Your Shoulder’ hitmaker.
The excited Master KG took to Twitter to share the good news with his followers. He wrote:
“Jay Z added ‘Jerusalema’ on his playlist amazing!!!”
Several of his fans after seeing the tweet congratulated him for making it to the list. Others also wished him well and hoped he reached greater heights. Some wrote:
“Yes, when Jesus says yes… anything says no means nothing can say no… go higher… you deserve it.
“Congrats ‘G’ real recognizes real.
“2020 is the year for you”.
Jerusalema kept the world dancing amid the stricter levels of the Covid-19 lockdown and helped many people dance the coronavirus blues away. The track was played in all corners of the globe. It was even certified double platinum in Italy and therefore does not come as a surprise for it to be on Jay-Z’s top 40 playlists.

Jay-Z’s playlist also has tracks by top artists such as his wife Beyoncé, Drake, and Megan Thee Stallion. Other popular songs that made it to Jay-Z’s playlist include, Beyoncé’s Black Parade, Burna Boy’s Onyeka (Baby), Snowchild by The Weeknd, Drake and Lil Durk’s Laugh Now Cry Later, and Savage Remix by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé.

Master KG’s music career started when he got in touch with DJ Maebela and they began experimenting with music software. In 2016, after much practice, he released his first single “Situation.” After being signed to his current record label, Open Mic Productions, Master KG released his debut album ‘Skeleton Move’ in 2018.
His album Skeleton Move achieved acclaim including an AFRIMMA Award for Best Artist/Group in the African Electro category. He is also known as the pioneer of “Bolobedu” dance.
In December 2019, Master KG released the song ‘Jerusalema’, featuring Nomcebo Zikode. In mid-2020, it went viral online, charting internationally and spawning a remix with Burna Boy.
The award-winning musician has hit over 140.3 million streams on Spotify with the actual figure being 140.3 million. He took to his social media handles to share this with his fans saying;
“It’s Been A Great Year. Managed to Do 143 Million Streams On @spotify Big Thanks To Everyone Who Made This Possible”.
That notwithstanding, the music video when uploaded on YouTube, had over 150 million viewership and 1.7 million likes within a short period of time after it was uploaded.
