Ghanaian actress and TV personality, Beverly Afaglo Baah has revealed that Nigerian businessmen understand the showbiz industry better than Ghanaians.
She asserted:
“The positive side is that made us rich because Nigerians understand show business.
“They understand the showbiz in the sense that, there is no single Nigerian millionaire who will invite you to their event without giving you something”.

According to the actress, the kind nature of Nigerian millionaires forced some Ghanaian actors and actresses to relocate to Nigeria to join the movie industry some years back and she happened to be one of them.
She narrated:
“The Ghanaian millionaire will tell you to bring your friends to their wedding without paying anything, forgetting that, you spend money to look good. If she is a woman, she would pay a make-up artiste to make her look good, maybe 300 0r 500.
“She will come and sit there, waste her time as well to grace your event. Then all you could do is take pictures with the celebrity, have fun and that’s all. A Nigerian will never do that”.

The actress compared Ghana and the same matter and concluded that it is actually different.
Beverly Afaglo says being a wife and mother slowed down her career
Ghanaian actress, Beverly Afaglo disclosed that even though she is presently doing well in the movie industry, being a wife and a mother negatively affected her career.
The mother of two narrated how she lost a role in a series because she had to discharge her motherly roles.
Beverly recalled that at the time, her first daughter who was then at six months always wanted to be breastfed before going to bed. She added that her mother called her to come home and breastfeed her daughter while she was on set late into the night.
She mentioned that since the production had prolonged, everyone started complaining but she was more worried about her baby and mentioned it on set.
The actress said unfortunately for her, the producer called to tell her that she should stay home to perform her motherly duties, and her role was taken off in subsequent editions of the series.
She stated:
“Being married definitely slowed me down because some of the directors told me they couldn’t cast me for certain roles which I played previously because I’m a wife.
“I love that they give me such respect but as an actress, it is my duty to act irrespective of my marital status; so if I can perfectly play a role, I don’t see the reason why I should not be given the chance”.

The actress who has gained popularity for her roles in movies such as “Single Six”, “Turn Me On”, “Bachelor’s”, “Equatorial Escape”, “Girls Connection”, “ Northern Affair” and “Aloe Vera” said she is not bothered by that considering that a number of female celebs like Beyonce and Ghanaian singer, Becca among many others have been through similar situations.
She noted:
“Look at Beyonce, because she is a big brand, her team is able to push her works when she brings something out but we know all that this is the Beyonce we knew before marriage because being a wife and a mother affected her.
“Same with Becca, she was very loud and everywhere but that is not happening with her now. You have colleagues you started with, they are single so they will keep working, and then, childbirth also slows you down since you can be off for a year and a half. And then by the time you get back to business, people have taken over your position”.
