She recalled how she shared a single room with her parents and three other siblings and disclosed how her family sold foodstuffs, clothes, and other things to survive, adding that she and her family moved to Fadama because where to stay was problematic.

Sandra said they relocated from Lapaz to Fadama, Akweteyman, Taifa, and then to Dome, all in Accra. These new locations came with their own challenges.

She recounted:

“We were ejected from where we lived at Taifa so a friend of my father, now late, who was a pastor accepted us into where his church was. It was a wooden structure and we slept on the benches”.

She said as far as she could recall, she was between the ages of five and seven when the relocation happened. As she further shared the story of how her family struggled, Sandra struggled to maintain her composure as she got emotional.

Pausing in her narrative as she began to sob until she found her voice, she said:

“Sometimes, when it rained, they would stand and hold my younger siblings because if you slept…Sometimes, they had to stand so we, the children, could lie on the bench”.

Beyond not having a suitable place to call home, Sandra said she had no option but to walk to school due to the level of poverty.

After the struggles, she traveled to Nigeria for her first movie at age 26 and now lives comfortably.

Sandra Ababio recalled how she became pregnant with a 50-year-old man after losing her virginity to a 20-year-old.

She said she got into a relationship with the 20-year-old who was her brother’s friend. She revealed that after her sexual exploit with him, she became a different person as she pierced her ears, and had fun, among others.

She recalled:

“Immediately after Senior High School, I attended the Centre for Languages and Professional Studies where I studied Bi-lingua Secretariaship. I was still a virgin at that time and hadn’t even seen the nakedness of a man before.

“I met someone called Kay; I got to know him through my elder brother because they were friends. I was 20 at that time and he was the one who broke my virginity. I changed and started living my life, having fun”.

Narrating how she was enjoying life and how she encountered another man who crossed her path. She revealed:

“The man had been showing interest in me but I wasn’t giving him the attention. He seemed to have told some elderly men how he felt about me, so whenever I went out to buy something, I would be told he had communicated his feelings to them. They would send me to deliver items to the man and that’s how I got pregnant for him.

“He showed interest in me and I said yes to him. I was still with Kay, cheating on him with the man and Kay could call me on the phone expressing fury but I wouldn’t be bothered. The man impregnated me. He was in Ghana after sixteen years of living in London. He was a matured man, almost 50 years old. He told me he was not married”.

According to her, she later discovered that the man had lied to her because the man was still married and hadn’t divorced his wife with had five children.
