NDC Exposes Alleged Deception And Falsehoods By Upper Denkyira East MP

NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency has launched a scathing response to what they claim are incomplete, false, and misleading statements made by the current Member of Parliament, Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie during a recent interview.

The National Democratic Congress in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency in their first press conference for the year 2024, took the opportunity to highlight what they assert is a lack of transparency and accountability in the incumbent Member of Parliament’s reported projects and initiatives.

“We welcome you all to our first press conference of the National Democratic Congress in Upper Denkyira East Constituency for the year 2024. We have a mandate to hold the MP accountable for his stewardship to the good people of Denkyira East. In line with this mandate, we wish to respond to the statements made by the current Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East Constituency, Dr. Festus Awuah during an interview he granted recently”.

Swanzy Arhin

Addressing Dr. Festus Awuah’s comments regarding the health sector, the Upper Denkyira East of the National Democratic Congress disputed several claims, including the inauguration of the Buabinso chip compound, attributing it to the Parliamentary Candidate of the party for the 2024 general elections, Lawyer Emelia Ankomah.

The Constituency Chairman, Mr Swanzy Arhin who addressed the press conference further disputed claims made by the incumbent Member of Parliament regarding several other health projects in the constituency.

“The Meretweso Chips compound was a community initiated project while the Kyekyewere Health Center, Male, Female Ward and Bangalow were fully funded by Medamfo foundation  which started in 2015. As for the Tegyamorso Chip Compound project, it was a community initiated project. He only provided doors for the said project”.

Again, the National Democratic Congress in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency contested Dr. Awuah’s statements on various education projects, asserting that several of those projects were community-initiated rather than solely sponsored by the Member of Parliament.

Projects in Ammisahkrom, Kyekyewere, Jerusalem, KPK, Zion Camp, Baadua, Soboroso, Esaase, Asikuma, Nyamebekyere, and Motiakrom were all labeled as ‘419 projects’ by the Upper Denkyira East Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Swanzy Arhin.

Moreover, Dr. Awuah’s claims of initiating infrastructure projects such as mechanized boreholes, parks, community centers, and factories were also disputed by the National Democratic Congress in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency.

NDC Calls For Accountability

The National Democratic Congress Constituency Chairman in the Upper Denkyira East, Mr Arhin demanded clarity on the status, funding sources, and terms of such initiatives, citing specific examples like the Dunkwa Lorry Park and the Cassava Factory from Achempim to Adwumam.

In addition, the Upper Denkyira East branch of the National Democratic Congress raised pertinent questions about the Upper Denkyira East Assembly Hall and its alleged rental to a church for ten years, and the utilization of the Common Fund received by the constituency.

The Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency, Mr Arhin emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and detailed information regarding the financial disbursement and application of funds by the Member of Parliament.

The National Democratic Congress in the Upper Denkyira East Constituency concluded by accusing the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie and the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Ebenezer Forson Appiah of deceptive practices, corruption, and spreading misinformation about the state of projects in the constituency.

They called for accountability and pledged to hold the Member of Parliament, Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie responsible for his stewardship in the Denkyira East Constituency ahead of the 2024 general elections.
