Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh, the former Upper West Regional Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration has called on the party to address potential internal challenges as it gears up for the 2025 transition of power.

Drawing analogies from nature and recent events within the Asante Kingdom, Professor AveahNsoh highlighted the imperative for the National Democratic Congress to focus on satisfying its members to ensure a cohesive and robust foundation  when it is elected into office in 2024.

The seasoned academic in an article emphasized that internal issues if not manage properly often lead to the disintegration of groups hence the need for the National Democratic Congress to make plans to cater for its members before it assume of office in 2025.

“The NDC must sit up series! Satisfying our supporters from Jan. 7, 2025. Groups usually start disintegrating from inside. An analogy with nature better demonstrates my point. For instance, most fruits start rottening from inside. Coming closer home, fires normally start from inside the house, rarely from the outside.

“Basic health science explains the point even much more vividly. The human body might be infected from outside the body but the trouble actually starts from within. Now, check the Asante Kingdom. What happened recently in Manhyia involving Wuntumi and the traditional Council is a clear challenge to the Asante stool from within. It’s coming from full blooded Asantes”.

Professor Nsoh further drew parallels with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing their initial excitement upon assuming power and subsequent disillusionment among party members.

According to him, challenges under the current administration ranging from economic concerns, including rising unemployment and cost of living, to internal strife has resulted in notable members like the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanteng to break away from the ruling party.

He noted that the governing New patriotic Party’s internal dissent must serves as a cautionary tale for the opposition National Democratic Congress to take immediate steps and measures to address members concerns when it assumes power in 2025.

“The only ones now openly supporting the NPP government are some government appointees, the NPP political commentators and the dyed in the wool supporters of the party. Even these ones criticise their party off air. So, the biggest oppostion against the NPP and its ruling government are the NPP members themselves. Surprisingly, the NDC has not shown any stiff opposition against the NPP if one considers the actions of the NPP in opposition against us”.

NDC Urged Not To Neglect Its Base When Assume Power In 2025

Furthermore, Professor Aveah Nsoh, the former Regional Minister of the Upper East Region under the erstwhile Mahama led National Democratic Congress administration warned against the party’s historical tendency to neglect its base once in government, highlighting the potential electoral consequences if this trend continues.

Professor Aveah Nsoh therefore urged the leadership of the National Democratic Congress to prioritize internal cohesion and member satisfaction over grabbing positions when assume power in 2025.

“So, the NDC must consciously strategise to manage its members long before we take the reins of power in 2025. For me, this is the single most important area that the party must concern itself with. There must be an internal political strategy on how to SATISFY our base. This is non negotiable.  In the next article, I will deal comprehensively with the most effective approach to managing our members”.

Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh

Professor Aveah Nsoh emphasized that the party’s success hinges on a comprehensive and proactive approach to managing its members, advising the leadership to plan ahead to ensure sustained unity within the party.
