The Executive Director for Global InfoAnalytics, Musa Danquah has indicated that the December 2023 national poll revealed an evolving landscape of voter priorities and their potential impact on the upcoming 2024 elections.

Mr Danquah stated that its December 2023 polls revealed significant insights into key issues such as taxes, corruption, and education, which are anticipated to be crucial factors in understanding the dynamics that will shape the outcome of the 2024 general elections.

Touching on taxation according to the Global Info Analytics December 2023 national poll, Mr Danquah indicated that taxes currently rank 6th on voters’ list of top issues influencing their voting decisions for the 2024 elections.

However, Mr Danquah predicted a shift in these rankings come March and April 2024 polls, especially with the introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity consumption and emission levy.

According to the Executive Director for Global InfoAnalytics, such alteration could potentially elevate taxes as a more pressing concern for voters in the December 7 national election.

Mr Danquah further recounted that for those who identified taxes among their top three issues, a striking 65.5% expressed intent to vote for the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama while 20.1% favoured the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party with 7.1% leaned towards the founder and leader of Movement for Change, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

He thus emphasized that the data portends a potential stumbling block for the New Patriotic Party flagbearer and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the 2024 elections draw near.

Furthermore, the Executive Director for Global InfoAnalytics pointed out that since corruption has recently dominated the news cycle, its data indicates that it holds substantial weight in voters’ decision-making.

He noted that among those who consider corruption a top election issue, 58.9% lean towards voting for former President John Dramani Mahama while 22.7% favour Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with 8.8% support Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

Mr Danquah also argued that such data poses a disadvantage for the ruling party, suggesting that concerns about corruption could have a tangible impact on their electoral fortunes in the upcoming elections on December 7.

Moreover, Mr Musa Daquah posited that despite education being touted as the government’s flagship program, its data according to the December 2023 polls suggests a discrepancy between policy popularity and voter sentiment.

He revealed that among those who prioritize education as a top issue for the 2024 elections, 57.2% intend to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama while  28.9% went for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and 5.9% went for Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

According to Mr Danquah, the above data according to its December 2023 polls also poses a challenge for the ruling government as voters seem to hold them accountable for challenges within the education sector.

In addition, Mr Musa Danquah added that its data also indicated that party affiliation is a decisive factor for a significant portion of the electorate. He noted that among voters who prioritize party allegiance, 36.6% express an intention to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama while a substantial 50.1% lean towards Vice President Dr Mahamudu.

According to him, such statistic reveals a clear advantage for Vice President Dr Mahamudu and the New Patriotic Party ahead of the 2024 general elections within such a specific demographic.

The Executive Director for Global Info Analytics, Musa Danquah concluded by emphasizing that the 2024 election outcome will hinge significantly on a candidate’s performance on these critical issues as voters increasingly scrutinize policies on taxes, corruption, and education.

He thus urged the various political parties to adopt strategies to address the evolving concerns of the electorate ahead of the December 7 2024 polls.
