Afrobeats sensation, Rema and Nollywood Star, Osas Ighodaro, were ecstatic to run into each other, and their mutual happiness was evident in a trending video making the rounds.
In the footage, Osas Ighodaro was seen sporting a bikini at a beachfront residence, enthusiastically conversing with the music star, who was thrilled to meet her.
The duo wrapped each other in tight embraces, showering praise on their stellar achievements in the entertainment world, before sealing the video with a perfect selfie.
Fans who stumbled upon the clip online couldn’t resist gushing over the duo’s cozy rapport and mutual admiration.
Some threw in witty remarks, while others lauded the duo’s shared Edo native state heritage.
In other news, Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, boldly expressed his belief that Afrobeats sensation Divine “Rema” Ikubor stands shoulder to shoulder with Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy on the global music stage.
The 25-year-old footballer asserted that Rema is presently among the “biggest artists” worldwide.
He pointed out that Seyi Vibez, Omah Lay, and Grammy-nominated singer Asake are still up-and-coming in the global scene.
Osimhen expressed his optimism, envisioning a future where Asake, Seyi Vibez, and Omah Lay would rise to the same level of prominence as Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Burna Boy in just a few years.
“Aside from Wizkid and Davido, we have Asake, Seyi Vibez, Omah Lay, and Rema. Rema is one of the biggest artists now in the world. Rema is there [top of global music] but these guys that I called, Omah Lay, Asake, and Seyi Vibez are also on the come up. In a few years, they are really going to burst out just like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy. So, for me, it’s really good to be coming from Nigeria,” he said.
Also, Nigerian music executive and founder of Jonzing World record label, D’Prince, explained why Rema is signed and managed by two music record labels.
D’Prince revealed that many hands are on deck to manage Rema because he is not a small artist.
“Rema is signed to Mavins, he is also signed to Jonzing World. Jonzing is my label. Mavin record is my label as well, that’s where I came from. You could call it a joint label/management operation going on there. Rema is not a small artiste that just one label..if you know how many people have their hands on deck in terms of Rema, you will understand why it takes a whole lot of people coming together,” D’Prince said.
Speaking further, he revealed that Jonzing Records will soon introduce a new lineup of artists after the successes of Rema and Ruger.
Becoming The first African Artist To Win Chinese Music Award
Nigerian superstar Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artist to win a Chinese Music Award.
The singer achieved the feat after his song ‘Calm Down’ remix with American superstar Selena Gomez won the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.
The award was presented by Hit FM, Taiwan, and hosted by DJ Andy.
Rema joins American and British artists on the list of the few international musicians to have won the Taiwanese award.
American global pop star Taylor Swift is one of the most celebrated international artists at the awards ceremony with over six awards.
In November 2023, Rema shut down his “Ravage Uprising” 02 Arena show in London. The sold-out show of 20,000 capacity saw the likes of Nigerian celebrities and fans traveling all the way to London for the show that can described as yet another celebration of Afrobeats.
Rema joined other award-winning Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake who have already sold the arena.
