Nana Aba Anamoah

Renowned media personality and journalist Nana Aba Anamoah has revealed her disappointment with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Art’s performance, and its Deputy Minister, Mark Okraku Mantey.

She stated that the ministry has become nonexistent and that she will demolish it if she becomes President.

Nana Aba Anamoah made these remarks when she commented on a story that the ministry and some subgroups that were supposed to look after the creative arts industry were not performing because many of its members had their agendas.

She disagreed with these statements, adding that having a personal agenda is not bad.

“Everybody has a personal interest. You’ll be very stupid if you go into an organization without a personal interest. You must have a personal interest,” she said.

“But of course, it must align. Dr. Bawumia has an agenda. He has a personal interest. Nana Akuffo-Addo, before he became President, had an agenda. He had a personal interest,” Nana Aba Anamoah further added.

She noted that the problem is when personal interest does not align with the national interest, adding that Mark Okraku Mantey and his cohorts cannot use the disunity of the creative arts sector as an excuse for their poor performance.

She revealed that the ministry is not doing anything to promote or support the tourism, culture, and creative arts industry in Ghana and that she would not hesitate to collapse it and break down the building if she had power.

Her comments join other stakeholders in the creative arts industry who have accused the Tourism Ministry and Mark Okraku Mantey of neglecting the industry.

Expressing Joy And Relief

Nana Aba Anamoah expressed her joy and relief over the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta as the Finance Minister.

She noted that she was happy that the Finance Minister was gone and that she saw his reassignment as a dismissal.

She further disclosed that Ken Ofori-Atta was the worst Finance Minister the country had ever had and that he had ruined the President’s legacy.

Nana Aba alleged that President Akufo-Addo refused to dismiss him when calls from various stakeholders were loudest because the president valued loyalty.

Nana Aba Anamoah stated that he should have resigned for overseeing so much rot and mismanagement in the country.

“I think that Ken Ofori-Atta should have resigned long ago. He has supervised so much rot and I am so glad he’s gone. Some will say too little, too late. But it’s good that it came now,” she further added.

On Wednesday, February 14, Ghanaians woke up to the news that President Nana Akufo-Addo had reshuffled his cabinet and sacked 13 Ministers and 10 Deputy Ministers, including health, roads, and environment Ministers.

Some of the sacked Ministers have been given new roles.

The former Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is reportedly set to take on other key roles in the Akufo-Addo government, including the Senior Presidential advisor on the economy and special envoy on international investment and the capital markets.

Ofori-Atta’s tenure as Finance Minister can be termed a memorable one as he saw Ghana through major global events, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War.

Ken Ofori-Atta left his role at his bank, DataBank, to become Ghana’s Finance Minister on January 27, 2017, and was the longest-serving Finance Minister in the 4th Republic.

Until Ofori-Atta, no Finance Minister in Ghana’s 4th republic has been in office for more than one term (4 years).

The only Minister who has taken Ghana out and into an IMF program.

Ofori-Atta’s reign as Finance Minister began with Ghana already implementing an International Monetary Fund (IMF) program started by the John Dramani Mahama’s government.
