Wanlov the Kubolor have expressed worry about the filth in the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga.

Ghanaian aritist and entertainer, Wanlov.

Ghanaian international singer and songwriter, Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, known in showbiz as ‘Wanlov the Kubolor‘, has expressed worry about the filth in the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga.

According to him, with the rising spate of haphazard dumping of plastic waste, the land in the Upper East regional capital will soon become infertile and it will go a long way to affect the millet farming they are known for.

To Wanlov, but for the plastic waste littered around in the regional capital Bolgatanga, qualifies as heaven.

Wanlov was speaking in an interview on Bolgatanga-based radio when he made this known.

“The plastic bags lying everywhere. I feel the plastic waste is going to affect millet farming in the region because I see the waste on the ground and after some few years, I don’t think we can grow things on this ground if we don’t stop using plastics like the way we do now. If there was no plastic, this will be my heaven”.

He further advised that the people of the Bolgatanga society minimizes how they use plastic bags. He advised that instead of buying items and putting them in a plastic bag which will later add up to the waste, they should have a reusable bag they can use to carry the items they buy, and even added that if it is food they are going to buy then, they should carry their bowls to buy the food, to prevent the use of the plastic bag.

“Let’s make it a point that when buying things, we carry them in our hands or have our own bags (to convey whatever we buy). So, when buying water or whatever, let’s refuse the plastic bags. If you’re going to buy food, take your own bowl.”

Wanlov concluded by positing that, the people of Bolgatanga, don’t have to wait for the government to clean up the plastic waste, since this can be done by themselves and added that through attitudinal change and a reset of mind, the issue of plastic waste will be no more.

The indiscriminate disposal of plastic waste is not the only thing that Wanlov has complained about with regards to Bolgatanga; it hasn’t been long when ‘Wanlov the  Kubolor’ asserted that although he has grown fond of the Upper East regional capital, the potholes that characterize their roads are very worrying.

He revealed that there are one and a million things he loves about Bolgatanga, as he goes there for work-related issues and relaxation but the only issue is with the potholes on the roads. He also added that, if the roads are not fixed, it could cause a lot of havoc.

“I love so many things about Bolgatanga and the people as well. I always love coming back to the place to work and for leisure. What I don’t like is the plenty potholes on the roads, it is very bad and can cause a whole lot of problems if care is not taken”.
