Black Sherif has confirmed that this year’s edition of his annual Zaama Disco concert will once again take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, popularly known as Legon Stadium. The announcement positions the artist as the first and only performer to headline the venue on two separate occasions.

The confirmation, shared publicly on September 22, 2026, has generated excitement among fans who still recall the electric atmosphere of the 2025 show. That earlier edition marked Black Sherif’s graduation to full stadium status and drew thousands of music lovers to the campus venue in Accra.

Tickets for the December 21, 2025, concert sold out rapidly, and the night featured high-energy performances, guest appearances, and a memorable set from the host himself.

By returning to the same stadium for the next Zaama Disco, Black Sherif is cementing a special relationship with the venue. No other Ghanaian artist has previously headlined the University of Ghana Sports Stadium twice in consecutive or successive years for their own branded concert.

The achievement underscores both the commercial strength of the Zaama Disco brand and the artist’s rising stature in Ghana’s live music scene.

Zaama Disco has grown steadily from smaller shows into one of the most anticipated end-of-year events on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar. The name itself draws from Black Sherif’s cultural and musical identity, blending elements of highlife, hip-hop, and contemporary Ghanaian sounds that resonate strongly with young audiences.

Earlier editions have featured live bands, elaborate stage production, choreography, and surprise guest performers, turning the concerts into full artistic experiences rather than simple hit-parade nights.

The 2025 concert at Legon Stadium faced significant logistical challenges. A major boxing event had taken place in the same venue only hours earlier, forcing production teams to transform the space in a tight window. Despite delays that pushed the start of performances later than scheduled, the night succeeded.

Public Reaction

Fans filled much of the stadium, sang along to tracks from Black Sherif’s catalogue including material from the Iron Boy project, and stayed engaged until the early hours. Guest artists such as Sarkodie, KiDi, AraTheJay and others added further energy to the bill.

Black Sherif has spoken in the past about his ambition to deliver excellence on stage. Ahead of the 2025 show he described the concert as the result of years of studio work and artistic growth, promising fans more than just music. He framed it as an opportunity to bring the atmosphere of his creative process into a large-scale live setting.

The successful staging of that event appears to have encouraged the decision to return to the same venue.

For the University of Ghana, hosting major concerts has become part of a broader engagement with the creative industries. Ahead of the 2025 Zaama Disco, Black Sherif paid a courtesy call on the university’s Vice-Chancellor, during which discussions touched on potential collaborations and the role of the arts in national development.

University officials emphasised the importance of safe, well-organised events that respect campus regulations while celebrating Ghanaian talent.

The return to Legon Stadium in 2026 is expected to build on those foundations. Fans will be looking for refinements in organisation, crowd management and production values following lessons from the previous year. Ticket sales details, supporting acts and exact date are still emerging, but the venue confirmation alone has already sparked strong interest across social media and entertainment platforms.

Black Sherif’s trajectory continues to illustrate the potential of Ghanaian artists to command large-scale venues and sustain annual branded events. From early freestyles and neighbourhood performances to international recognition and stadium headlining slots, his career reflects a steady expansion of reach.

The decision to stage Zaama Disco at Legon Stadium for a second time reinforces that momentum and gives fans another opportunity to experience the show in a familiar yet elevated setting.

As preparations begin, the announcement has rekindled conversations about the growth of live music infrastructure in Ghana and the ability of homegrown artists to fill major venues repeatedly. Black Sherif’s status as the first artist to headline the Legon Stadium twice with his own concert marks a notable milestone in the country’s contemporary music history.

The 2026 Zaama Disco is now firmly on the calendar as one of the year’s most closely watched entertainment events.
