Mahama To Submit Running Mate Nomination To NDC’s NEC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, is set to meet with the National Executive Committee to formally submit his nominations for the position of Running Mate.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama in a statement issued on Thursday, March 7, 2024, stated that the move is a crucial step in accordance with the NDC Constitution, emphasizing the party’s commitment to a democratic and consultative approach in shaping its leadership.

“The National Democratic Congress Constitution requires the party’s presidential candidate to nominate a running mate in consultation with the National Executive Committee and the National Council of Elders”.

Lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari further revealed that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer former President John Dramani Mahama would commence the process by presenting his nominee to the esteemed Council of Elders of the party.

She emphasized that the move underscores the significance of the Council of Elders of the party’s wisdom and experience in guiding the party’s decision-making, and further stated that the meticulous approach would also ensure that the chosen candidate aligns with the party’s values, and vision, and resonates with the interests of the Ghanaian people.

Furthermore, Lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari argued that the event is expected to lay the foundation for the National Democratic Congress’s strategic planning and coordination as it gears up for the upcoming electoral battle.

NDC Commits To Building A Better And Prosperous Ghana

The Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari expressed the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer’s dedication to building a formidable team ahead of the December 7 polls.

According to her, the team will tirelessly work towards advancing the interests of the Ghanaian people and setting the country on a trajectory of recovery and prosperity when the National Democratic Congress assumes power in 2025.

Moreover, Lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari posited that selecting a running mate is undeniably a critical decision, and it is one that former President John Dramani Mahama approaches with confidence.

She asserted that former President John Dramni Mahama believe that his nominee for the running mate position embodied the core values and vision of the National Democratic Congress.

Lawyer Joyce Bawa Mogtari further emphasized that former President John Dramani Mahama is of the assurance that the chosen individual will play a pivotal role in contributing to a successful electoral campaign and victory for the opposition party in the December 7 polls.

The Special Aide to former President John Dramani in addition stated that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer as a leader is deeply rooted in the principles of the party and remains steadfast in his commitment to representing the interests of all Ghanaians when elected into power.

She stressed that the overarching goal for former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress is to build a Ghana that reflects the aspirations and desires of its citizens, fostering unity and progress.

With the running mate nomination set in motion, the National democratic Congress is poised to present a united front, ready to engage in a vibrant and issue-focused campaign to secure the trust and mandate of the Ghanaian people.

While several names have been tipped for the running mate position, many political analyst have expressed confidence of the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama likely to retain the party’s running mate for the 2020 general elections and former Education Minister, Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemenag.
