AAMUSTED Lecturer Declares Candidacy for NPP’s Ejisu Constituency Seat

Dr Evans Duah

Dr. Evans Duah, a renowned Finance Expert and Lecturer at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has announced his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries for the Ejisu Constituency.

The Mandela Washington Fellow with a solemn expression vowed to honour the legacy of his brother, the late John Kumah and serve the people of Ejisu, Ashanti, and Ghana with unwavering dedication.

“It’s been a mixed-feeling decision. This reality is still a tough one to come to terms with, but our God knows best and it is what it is. It’s the demise of my friend and brother that brings us to this point.

“Today, I’ve decided with my God, family, friends, and stakeholders to contest for the seat in honour of my brother, Hon. Dr John Ampontuah Kumah, Esq. and the good people of Ejisu, Ashanti, and Ghana”

Dr Evans Duah

Touching on the crucial nature of his decision, Dr Duah asserted that the Ejisu and its people deserve a leader who prioritizes the welfare and development of the constituents, mirroring what he described as the exemplary vision of the late Member of Parliament for the area, Dr John Kumah upheld throughout his tenure.

Articulating his aspirations under two core pillars, Dr. Duah outlined his vision for the people of Ejisu Constituency encapsulated in the concepts of “Ejisu Daakye Ntoaso” and “The Project of the People”.

The former, he noted seeks to continue the noble legacies and visionary initiatives championed by the late Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for the area to ensure continuity and progress for Ejisu  Constituency.

Furthermore, Dr Evans Duah, the lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development indicated that his second initiative titled the “Project of the People” represents a collective endeavor aimed at placing the welfare and well-being of Ejisu’s populace at the forefront of governance.

Call for Support

Moreover, Dr. Duah called upon all stakeholders, particularly delegates and members of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu Constituency to rally behind his candidacy.

Citing the famous quote “Don’t step back and sit when you need to step up and lead in the face of adversity”, Dr Duah invoked the spirit of resilience and determination ahead of his journey to become the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency.

“Great leaders are made in moments – the moments where decisions are made and action is taken. If you’re going do it, do it with all of your heart and all of yourself. Go big or go home. Drink deep or taste not”.

Dr Evans Duah

He stressed that his candidacy represents not only a personal commitment to the late Member of Parliament for the area’s memory but also a profound dedication to the advancement and prosperity of Ejisu, Asanteman, and Ghana at large.

With his background as a respected academic and finance expert, coupled with his deep-rooted ties to the community as a son of Essienimpong in Ejisu, Dr. Duah expressed his commitment to carry forward the torch of leadership with integrity and resolve.

Meanwhile, ten other candidates have already made their intention to contest the New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries in the Ejisu Constituency ahead of the by-election which is yet to be announced by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The lists include the former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Lawyer Mrs. Portia Acheampong Abronye, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Helena Mensah and Aaron Prince Duah.

Others include Bright Gyimah, Eric Osei Akoto, Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah, Mame Yaa Aboagye and Abena Pokua Amoah Boateng.
