Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, has acknowledged that the fight against State Capture will be a formidable and challenging battle.

Hon. Ablakwa disclosed that the Intel he’s receiving from public servants regarding the sale of state assets is nothing short of shocking and appalling, suggesting a staggering breach of public trust and possible looting of national resources.

According to the MP, Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, Senior Policy Advisor to Vice President Bawumia and Board Chair of La Palm Royal Beach Resort, has not only allegedly mismanaged La Palm and put it up for sale to a colleague in government, but also claims ownership of prime land belonging to the Ghana Prisons Service at Roman Ridge.

“The Vice President’s top advisor has dragged the helpless Ghana Prisons Service to court demanding that they stop preventing him from enjoying his acquisition.  In a show of vice-presidential power, Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu used national security operatives to demolish a fence constructed by the Ghana Prisons Service to secure their land which was allocated to the service since 28th June 1950”.

According to Ablakwa, the legal battle rages on, with the Ghana Prisons Service and the Attorney General’s Department taking on Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, a close advisor to Vice President Bawumia, in a bid to halt his actions, as they pursue an appeal in court.

The astute Member of Parliament pointed out that Ghana’s valuable assets, including SSNIT hotels, parks, gardens, beachfront properties, public bungalows, prison facilities, 5G rights, and now the Roman Ridge Borstal Institute lands, are being sold off, effectively putting the country up for sale.

Additionally, Ablakwa praised former President John Mahama for his promise to the nation that, upon his inauguration on January 7, 2025, after the elections, he will launch thorough investigations and reclaim the country’s plundered lands, a move that signals a commitment to accountability and restitution.

Ablakwa Urges Unity In Fight Against State Capture

Moreover, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa declared that, for the time being, patriotic citizens can only vow to intensify their unwavering protests and opposition against these “lootocratic” plots, both within the chambers of Parliament and beyond, refusing to back down in their fight against corruption and abuse of power.

He commended the Ghana Prisons Service for their outstanding bravery and unwavering dedication to the nation, praising their selfless commitment to the country’s well-being.

“Since 2005 when Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu and the Lands Commission claimed President Kufuor instructed the Lands Commission to hand over portions of the Roman Ridge land belonging to the Ghana Prisons Service to Prof. Appiah-Adu— all the way to this era when Prof. Appiah-Adu as Senior Advisor to Bawumia used national security operatives to demolish a Prisons Service constructed wall in order to take over the land, the Service has been outstanding in resisting and standing up to the abuse of political power”.

Hon. Ablakwa praised the Ghana Prisons Service for their unwavering resolve, which has not been swayed by threats, intimidation, or legal proceedings, demonstrating their unyielding dedication to upholding the truth.

He highlighted that the leadership of the Ghana Prisons Service has shown that even appointees within the same government can put aside allegiance and confront each other when the national interest is at stake, demonstrating a commitment to principle over politics.

As such, Ablakwa called on other state institutions to draw inspiration from the Ghana Prisons Service’s courageous stance and join the fight against the scourge of State Capture, urging them to emulate this exemplary model of patriotism and integrity in the face of overwhelming odds.

“God bless the Ghana Prisons Service, the majority of Ghanaians stand with these bold and patriotic men and women in prison’s uniform”. – Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

With conviction, Hon. Ablakwa declared that the scourge of State Capture would ultimately be vanquished, its grip on the nation broken, and the people’s interests triumphantly upheld.
