2Lock Declares Sarkodie as His ‘Child’

2Lock, formerly called Nana Fynn

Ghanaian singer-songwriter, 2Lock, formerly called Nana Fynn has stated that Sarkodie is his child.

The Highlife star explained why, unlike others, he easily secured a collaboration with rap star Sarkodie.

“I saw Sarkodie as a baby. I was in school. I was in a band and one time when we went to perform, his mother had delivered him. This happened in Tema Community 9.”

2Lock

According to him, he watched Sarkodie grow, noting Sarkodie likes music because his [Sarkodie’s] mother liked music and anywhere the band would rehearse, he would come and listen if he had time.

The “Me Ye Romeo” hitmaker added Sarkodie, then an emerging musician, who used to use his studio.

“Sarkodie is my child, I cannot call him my brother. He is my nephew, more or less,” 2Lock emphasized.

He called Sarkodie “a generation talent,” adding that the first time he said that, Sarkodie was only 12.

“Meanwhile, I was in my 20s entering my 30s. Sarkodie was a great rapper even at 9. Sarkodie was a ready talent. It’s a gift. He didn’t have to learn.”

2Lock stated he is not surprised at the success of Michael Owusu Addo, also known as Sarkodie.

“I even saw beyond this. I just knew it. I’ve done music all my life so when I spot a talent, whether Rock or Rap, or Highlife or Reggae, I can see it.”

2Lock

Again, the “Odo Handkerchief” hitmaker lauded the rapper and rhetorically quizzed himself.

“He is rap and rap is him. How can one sustain a career for this long just on rap? That’s impressive,” the artist said.

2Lock revealed for his Forever collaboration with Sarkodie, he simply visited the two-time BET winner.

“I went to his house, at the time, my studio was close to his home. I asked to see him, and we sat and discussed the song. That very afternoon, he came to my studio and we killed the song. He didn’t leave till we finished the song.”

2Lock

2Lock asserted, against popular opinion, that Sarkodie is quite open to collaborations unless he has now changed, adding that perhaps because he is busy.

Vocalist Challenges the Notion Some Drugs Improve One’s Voice

2Lock argued the human voice, unlike the human skin, gets better with age.

According to him, the human voice is not better when one stops using their vocal chords or stops singing.

“There’s a connection between your ear and your throat, and this must be further connected to one’s brain, or else your singing will be messy because you cannot accurately express what you have in your mind.”

2Lock

The beloved vocalist challenged the notion some drugs can improve one’s voice.

“If you don’t train your voice, you can consume a sack of weed every day but still fail at singing,” he said.

Anyone who says differently, he added, is speaking “utter foolishness”.

That notwithstanding, the “Santrofie” hitmaker revealed that certain individuals employ drugs to boost their self-esteem.

“Perhaps, some people use hard drugs to improve their confidence, and you know you need to be confident to sing. Some people lack that confidence and so, I don’t know, maybe taking in something gives them the vim to perform.”

2Lock

Concerning some notions held about a singer’s diet, the Highlife star said, “Bananas help clear one’s throat, especially of phlegms, greatly reducing vocal cracks.”

He disputed singers cannot drink chilled water and advised.

“However, when you drink cold water, don’t talk or sing for 30 minutes to one hour else you’ll find it hard to project vocally while staying smooth.”
