John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the upcoming December 7th, 2024, election as a singular and historic contest that sets itself apart from past electoral contests.
John Mahama noted that the 2024 election represents a unified front of Ghanaians determined to reclaim their nation from the grip of state capture, corruption, and the plundering of resources.
He emphasized that the essence of democracy lies in its ability to empower citizens to choose their leaders, but cautioned that wise decisions are crucial, as every choice has far-reaching consequences.
“It is time to send ‘Atiglinyi’ [elephant] back to the bush. Democracy is about progress and prosperity… We don’t want to go backward so everybody must run forward and hand over the baton. Instead of running forward with the baton, they [the NPP] started running back. Every society wants progress, not retrogression”.
“Unfortunately, in the last eight years, our country has gone backward. Everything is in crisis. The economy is in crisis. Food inflation is the highest [and] poverty is rising”.
John Dramani Mahama
The NDC flagbearer criticized the current administration, characterizing it as a self-serving clique that has seized control of the country, prioritizing its own interests and creating exclusive opportunities.
John Mahama asserted that this starkly contrasts with Kwame Nkrumah’s ideals of equitable distribution of resources and equal access to Ghana’s wealth.
He promised that the next NDC government would usher in a new era of inclusivity and equality, ensuring that the country’s resources are shared justly among all Ghanaians, leaving no one behind.
With unwavering confidence, John Mahama declared that on December 7th, the NDC would emerge triumphant at the polls, earning the party a fresh mandate to form a government and steer Ghana back onto a path of prosperity and progress.
He asserted that the NDC boasts a talented pool of individuals, comprising both men and women, who possess the expertise and vision to transform Ghana’s fortunes, emphasizing that effective national leadership demands seasoned and experienced hands.
John Mahama emphasized the vital contributions of women in both governance and the economy, as he outlined the NDC’s commitment to empowering women and ensuring their full participation in leadership positions.
“They control trade agriculture and commerce. If you go to all the markets in this country, women dominate”. – John Mahama
24-Hour Economy Needs 25,000 More Police
Moreover, John Dramani Mahama noted that the realization of a 24-hour economy would necessitate a substantial increase in police personnel, with an additional 25,000 officers required to provide the requisite security and support for a vibrant and thriving nighttime economy.
He noted that, for recruitment, an NDC government will ensure a decentralized process, providing every Ghanaian with an equal opportunity, which is a complete contrast to the current government’s approach.
The NDC flagbearer pledged to establish a nationwide apprenticeship initiative, designed to tackle youth unemployment by empowering aspiring young individuals to gain practical experience and develop in-demand vocational skills.
“On 7th December, we are all not going to sleep. All of us will be awake for 48 hours until they have counted the votes and declared NDC the winner of the election. All of us are going to be polling agents. All of us will go and vote”.
John Dramani Mahama
He further advised all NDC supporters to monitor the counting of votes on Election Day, ensuring transparency and preventing any potential manipulation or cheating of the NDC.
John Mahama also appealed to voters to elect NDC parliamentary candidates, emphasizing that they possess the vision and expertise necessary to drive meaningful development and sustainable growth in their respective constituencies.
He asserted that his unparalleled political experience makes him the most qualified candidate to lead the country, emphasizing that his extensive background in governance and leadership sets him apart from others and earns him the trust of the people.
