Ahiagbah Criticizes Mahama over ‘Recycled Promises’ and Lack of ‘Fresh Ideas’

Mahama Urges EC to Address Anomalies Ahead of 2024 Elections

Former President John Dramani Mahama, NDC Presidential Candidate for the 2024 General Elections

The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of making lofty promises that are out of touch with the current realities facing Ghanaians.

Mr Ahiagbah’s critique comes in the wake of what he describes as the NDC’s flagbearer’s latest series of proposals, which he deemed as a repackaging of existing government initiatives under the guise of originality.

“John Mahama appears to be out of touch with the realities facing Ghanaians. It seems he either has a short memory or has entirely forgotten that many of the key initiatives he is proposing are already being implemented by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, which he claims has done nothing

Richard Ahiagbah, NPP Director Communications

The ruling New Patriotic Party communications chief pointed out that many of former President Mahama’s proposals appear to mirror the NPP’s manifesto and existing government initiatives, albeit with altered language designed to create an illusion of innovation.

He emphasized that the policies being touted by the National Democratic Congress 2024 Presidential Candidate are not only redundant but also lack any substantive new ideas, reflecting a failure to offer a genuine alternative vision for Ghana’s future.

Criticizing former President Mahama’s record, Mr Ahiagbah reminded Ghanaians of the National Democratic Congress’s leader and flagbearer’s tenure from January 7, 2013, to January 7, 2017, which, according to him, ended in a decisive rejection by the electorate.

“Ghanaians witnessed Mahama’s presidency, and the collective judgment was a decisive rejection. What is new this time seems to be a rebranded attempt to deceive Ghanaians, much like a so-called miracle herbal remedy being marketed as a cure-all for every challenge facing the country”.

Critical Questions Raised

In his scathing critique, Richard Ahiagbah raised several critical questions about former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposals, particularly regarding their feasibility and originality.

He questioned how the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer former President Mahama’s plans to fund the myriad of free initiatives he has promised, especially when he simultaneously claims that the economy is bankrupt.

Ahiagbah’s scepticism extended to whether former President Mahama is aware of the current government’s ongoing projects and investments.

Mr Ahiagbah also questioned former President Mahama’s recent realization about the need to reform traditional grammar schools, suggesting that the former President is merely jumping on a bandwagon rather than offering genuine leadership.

A Call for Moving Forward

Concluding his statement, the New Patriotic Party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah argued that former President Mahama’s “Reset” campaign is a deceptive strategy aimed at convincing Ghanaians that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is offering a new direction.

Mr Ahiagbah insisted that this is far from the truth, asserting that “The whole ‘Reset’ campaign appears to be nothing more than an effort to mislead Ghanaians into thinking the NDC is offering a new version”.

He fervently urged Ghanaians to reject former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress in the December upcoming elections, stressing that “Ghana will not return to the tried and failed leadership of John Mahama”.

“We will not buy the Reset to go back. We are moving forward to a future of possibilities”, he declared.

Richard Ahiagbah’s remarks underscore the New Patriotic Party’s commitment to highlighting what they see as the duplicity and lack of foresight in former President Mahama’s policies announced during the launch of the NDC’s 2024 Manifesto.
