Mohbad’s Wife Pays Emotional Tribute on 1-Year Anniversary of His Passing

Wunmi and her late husband, Mohbad

It is the one-year remembrance of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Promise, popularly known as Mohbad. Despite the controversies surrounding Mohbad’s life and death, Wunmi, his wife chose to celebrate his memory and legacy.

In an emotional tribute on her Instagram page, Wunmi described his death as an unbearable pain. She expressed how much she missed him and how he left her and their son, Liam, in this cold world.

She added that since his death, it has been so hard and she doesn’t know how to survive, but it also shaped her life.

“llerioluwa mi, Husband of my youth, my best friend! It’s been a year today year since you left me and our Liam in this cold world. It’s been so hard. I miss you so much. Liam misses you too.

“I wish you were here to see him; you would have been an incredible father. I still don’t know how I’ve survived without you. God, I wish you were here every single day, every millisecond of the day.”

Wunmi

According to Wunmi, she has learned so much and is still learning.

She revealed that there is no way she would be okay without him, stating that it messes with her head.

“I keep thinking it’s a nightmare I’ll wake up from, but 366 days have passed, and I haven’t. Oko mi, we had so many plans together, and you had so much more to give to this world. It hurts deeply to know that all our dreams, everything you worked so hard for, are now gone with you.”

Wunmi

The late artist’s wife vowed to keep his memory alive by raising Liam with the same love and care Mohbad would have given him.

“I want you to know that Liam and I are holding on to the strength and love you gave us. Every day, I see pieces of you in him-your kindness, your smile, your spirit,” she added.

The tribute was a celebration of Mohbad’s life, legacy, and the love they shared.

“Today, I choose to celebrate you. Today, I choose to honor your legacy. Today, I choose to give all glory to God for blessing me with you, llerioluwa. Today, I choose to honor your legacy. Today, I choose to give all glory to God for blessing me with you, llerioluwa.”

Wunmi

Wunmi prayed for her husband’s soul, asking God to forgive his shortcomings and welcome him to eternal rest.

She expressed gratitude for the gift of Liam and thanked Mohbad for their son.

“Today, I choose to be grateful for the gift of Liam-the beauty of our ashes. My love, I pray for your soul today. I hope it’s always a celebration up there for you. I love you so much. Fly high with the angels, love of my life.”

Wunmi

When Omowunmi turned a year older in April, she made a special request to Nigerians, urging them to celebrate her husband on her birthday, rather than her.

Baba Mohbad Lays Curses

Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, condemned and cursed those seeking to make money from his son’s tragic death.

While leaving the court following a coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death, Joseph addressed reporters, expressing his dismay over the exploitation of his son’s memory.

In a video, Baba Mohbad spoke about the one-year remembrance of his son, who died under tragic circumstances on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.

With sadness, he reflected on the ongoing grief he feels, stating that he still sheds tears whenever he hears Mohbad’s music.

He harshly criticized individuals seeking to benefit financially from the first anniversary of his son’s passing, cursing those who, in his view, plan to exploit the tragic occasion.

He declared that such people and their families would be stricken with leprosy, emphasizing that this was not a time for profit but for remembrance and justice.

Speaking in Yoruba, Joseph reiterated that despite the time that has passed, justice for Mohbad has yet to be served.
