Nigerian music star, Omah Lay has expressed his love for Afrobeats megastar Davido, calling him a “legend.”
When asked about collaborations, Omah Lay revealed that he and Davido have a song set to drop soon, much to the excitement of their fans.
“Actually, we have a song, and it’s coming out soon. I am very excited about the record because it’s something I never imagined would be this great and cool.”

He described the collaborative process as smooth, noting the connection they shared while creating the track.
“The way we got along and made the record is so cool, and Davido is also an amazing person,” he added.
Omah Lay also discussed the growing prominence of Afrobeats in the U.S., pointing out that Davido stands out among several prominent Nigerian stars making waves internationally but noted, “The U.S. always comes last before they discover.”
“Davido is a legend. He is big, big,” he emphasized, acknowledging the significant role Davido has played in the global rise of the genre.
This announcement comes months after Omah Lay stirred conversation online by suggesting he believed Davido had negative feelings towards him.
While Omah Lay refused to reveal the song’s name, he said it’s set for release soon. Fans will be looking forward to the song which will precede his highly anticipated sophomore album which he recently revealed he had to start afresh after his idea was stolen by an artist he shared it with.
Speaking on his relationship with his fellow Nigerian Afrobeats stars, Omah Lay stated that while there’s mutual respect, the competition is what keeps them striving to be the best. “It’s what keeps the industry alive,” he said, adding that while Nigerian artists don’t collaborate as much as those in South Africa, it’s all part of maintaining a unique artistic identity.

The Nigerian singer reflected on the tragic losses of his mother, Mrs. Victoria Adeleke, and his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi.
“I have lost a lot of people. I lost my mum at the age of eleven. I’m just being strong. I did a song called ‘Stand Strong.’ I feel like strength and obviously, my faith has kept me going.”
