Drawing attention to the broader implications of unemployment, the National Democratic Congress’s Deputy National Communications Officer highlighted the risks it poses to national security.  “The more people get unemployed, the more they pick up arms and engage in all sorts of things. And you and I, who are employed, will be at risk,” he stated.

He stressed the need for collective efforts in addressing the unemployment crisis, not only by providing jobs but also by equipping young people with the skills necessary to become self-reliant.

“It’s incumbent on us to create sustainable jobs and give the youth the skills to create jobs for themselves. If one person at YEA sets up their own institution and recruits others, it adds to the solution roadmap for unemployment. These may be indirect jobs for YEA but are direct contributions to the nation.”
