Dr. Eric Nkansah, the immediate past Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has emphasized that although he is stepping down from his current role, his commitment to the advancement of education in Ghana remains steadfast.
He expressed his determination to continue contributing to the country’s educational development in various other capacities, stating that his passion for improving the education sector and empowering the next generation of leaders is unwavering.
Dr. Nkansah highlighted that his dedication to shaping the future of education in Ghana will persist, and he looks forward to exploring new avenues to make a positive impact in the field.
“I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to our remarkable stakeholders (i.e., GES Council, management, staff, labor unions, students, parents, Development Partners, CSOs, the media, and the public) who contributed to making this experience impactful and fulfilling”.

Dr. Nkansah further acknowledged the exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment of all the stakeholders involved in shaping and supporting Ghana’s education system.
He highlighted that their relentless efforts, collaboration, and focus on improving the quality of education have played a pivotal role in the successes achieved so far.
According to Dr. Nkansah, these stakeholders, including educators, policymakers, and other partners, have gone above and beyond to ensure that Ghana’s education system continues to evolve and meet the needs of the country’s future generations.
Their collective contributions, he noted, have been instrumental in driving meaningful change and progress in the sector. “I am immensely proud of what we accomplished together”.
Dr. Nkansah also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to the newly appointed Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, as he embarks on his new role.

He expressed his confidence in Prof. Davis’ capabilities and leadership, hoping that the new Director-General will continue the vital work of advancing Ghana’s education system.
Accordingly, Dr. Nkansah emphasized the importance of collective support for Prof. Davis, urging all stakeholders, from educators to policymakers, to rally behind him to ensure his success and drive continued progress within the education sector.
Gratitude Expressed for Leadership, Support During Tenure
Furthermore, Dr. Eric Nkansah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to former President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for granting him the opportunity to serve in this esteemed capacity.
He also extended special appreciation to the former Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, for his exceptional leadership and unwavering guidance during his tenure.

According to Dr. Nkansah, their support, and trust in his abilities were instrumental in enabling him to execute his responsibilities effectively and contribute to the development of Ghana’s education sector.
“On 19th October 2022, I had the privilege and honor of being appointed by H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the then President of the Republic of Ghana, as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
“Today, as I bow out of GES as the Director-General, I want to thank God for his blessings and mercies upon my life. Ebenezer! This is how far the Lord has brought me! Glory be to God”.

Dr. Nkansah reflected on his tenure with deep gratitude, describing his service to the nation in such a crucial role as an incredible journey filled with challenges, growth, and meaningful contributions.
He expressed immense pride in being part of Ghana’s educational transformation and the positive impact it has had on countless lives.
He also emphasized the collective responsibility in shaping the future of education, stressing the importance of continuing to champion the cause of quality education.
He highlighted the need to ensure that every Ghanaian child has access to the opportunities they deserve, fostering a brighter and more prosperous future.
His statement called for unity and dedication from all stakeholders to create an inclusive and sustainable educational system for generations to come. “Thank you, and God bless us all!”
