Africa’s largest electric vehicle company, Spiro has announced a strategic partnership with Afrobeats sensation David Adedeji Adeleke, known professionally as Davido.

The collaboration between Africa’s leading voice in sustainable transportation and one of the continent’s most influential cultural icons will drive the message of clean energy, innovation, and empowerment across Africa.

This partnership will inspire a movement that champions electric mobility and sustainable living.

Spiro and Davido will spotlight the company’s mission to provide clean, cost-effective transport options across Africa, showing how sustainability can be aspirational and stylish.

Davido’s influence extends far beyond music. He is known for his philanthropy, particularly through his Davido Foundation.

His decision to support Spiro’s clean energy transition aligns with his commitment to improving lives and fostering progress.

In a press release, Davido expressed his thoughts on making life better for his fans.

“I’ve always believed in using my platform to make life better for my fans and partnering with Spiro is the perfect way to do that, switching to electric saves money, helps the planet, and let’s be real, it looks mad fresh too. We’re bringing a new energy to Africa, and I’m excited to ride into 2025 with Spiro.”

In his remarks, Kaushik Burman, CEO of Spiro, said, “Davido represents the best of African excellence.”

“He’s bold, innovative, and beloved across the world. He’s the perfect ambassador for Spiro as we continue to expand and deliver on our mission of sustainable transportation for all.”

Spiro’s innovative electric bikes and battery-swapping stations are transforming mobility across Africa, with over 22,000 bikes deployed and more than 300 million kilometers driven without carbon emissions.

In 2023, Spiro partnered with the Ugandan government to deploy electric motorbikes and charging-swapping stations.

The signing of the agreement demonstrates Spiro’s commitment to contribute to Uganda’s Vision of migrating from fossil fuels to electric transport.

The deployment of electric motorbikes, a reliable charging and battery-swapping network, is in line with Uganda’s ambitions to become one of the leading countries for sustainable electric transportation in Africa.

Spiro will deploy 140,000 electric motorbikes into the Ugandan market over the next five years, as well as develop over 3,000 recharging and battery swapping stations across the country to support this transition, which will mainly target “boda-bodas,” motorbike taxi riders.

Davido Admits Feeling ‘Broke’ Compared to Father

Nigerian music icon, Davido revealed that despite his success and wealth, he sometimes feels “broke” when compared to the immense fortune of his father, Adedeji Adeleke.

The Afrobeats superstar shared this during an interview in Paris after gracing Amiri’s Fall/Winter 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week, held at Palais de Tokyo.

Davido attended the high-profile event alongside fellow Nigerian artiste Omah Lay.

In a viral clip from the interview, Davido was asked if anyone had ever made him feel broke despite his accomplishments.

Without hesitation, he replied, “Yeah, my dad.”

The “Unavailable” hitmaker continues to make waves both musically and culturally, as evidenced by his recent appearance in Paris and other notable moments, including receiving a $20,000 gift from a producer of his Timeless album and enjoying a royal welcome during a visit to India.

The statement has since gone viral on social media, sparking conversations about the vast fortune of his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, a renowned business mogul and philanthropist.

This confession comes months after Davido disclosed in an interview that it took years for him to realize that his father is a very wealthy man.

“Is his face cap for me awwww.”
