President Mahama Approves Key Appointments to the Office of the Vice President

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana

In a significant move to strengthen the leadership team within the Office of the Vice President, President John Dramani Mahama has approved a new set of appointments aimed at advancing the Resetting Ghana agenda. 

The list of appointees and their respective roles was revealed in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President. 

“President John Dramani Mahama has approved the appointment of the following individuals to the Office of the Vice President. They are expected to bring their wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles and contribute significantly to the Resetting Ghana agenda to build the Ghana we want.”

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Ag. Spokesperson to the President.

Key Appointments to the Office of the Vice President include Alex Percival Segbefia as Chief of Staff to the Vice President.

A seasoned administrator and public servant, Mr. Segbefia is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Vice President’s Office and ensuring operational efficiency. His extensive experience in government will be vital in promoting seamless collaboration among various units. 

Mrs. Alberta Graham has been appointed as Head of Administration. Known for her excellence in organizational management, Mrs. Graham is expected to oversee administrative functions, ensuring that the office operates effectively and efficiently in line with government priorities. 

Professor Theresah Ennin will serve as a Presidential Staffer and Special Aide to the Vice President. A respected academic, Prof. Ennin will act as a trusted adviser, providing strategic counsel on a range of critical issues while ensuring that the office’s policies are grounded in evidence-based research. 

Ms. Daniella Mavis Mathias has been named Secretary to the Vice President. Known for her attention to detail and administrative skills, Ms. Mathias will manage the Vice President’s schedule, communications, and key correspondences. 

Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been appointed as Policy Adviser, Political. As a former National Chairman of the ruling party, Dr Ampofo brings a wealth of experience in governance and political strategy to guide the Vice President on political matters. 

Prof. Sharif Mahmud Khalid will serve as Policy Adviser, Economics. A distinguished economist, Prof. Khalid will provide expert guidance on economic strategies, ensuring that policies drive sustainable growth and development.

Dr. Hamza Zakaria has also been appointed as Policy Adviser, Economic. His role will complement Prof. Khalid’s expertise, focusing on addressing pressing economic challenges and crafting solutions tailored to Ghana’s unique context. 

Ms. Mansa Amoa Awuah will serve as Policy Adviser, Finance. With an impressive background in financial management, Ms. Awuah will offer insights into fiscal policies and budgetary planning to strengthen Ghana’s economic foundation. 

Dr. Miriam Rahinatu Iddrisu has been appointed as Policy Adviser, Social Sector. An accomplished social policy expert, Dr. Iddrisu will lead efforts in education, healthcare, and other social services, ensuring inclusivity and equity in government programs. 

Lastly, Maame Ama Pratt will take on the role of Press Secretary. A seasoned communications professional, Ms. Pratt will lead the Vice President’s media and public relations team, ensuring clear and consistent messaging on policies and initiatives.

The statement emphasized that these appointments are a strategic step in advancing the Resetting Ghana agenda, a key component of the Mahama administration’s vision to restore trust in governance, rebuild economic resilience, and improve the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
