Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards.
She secured the award with her song ‘Love Me JeJe’, beating ‘Tomorrow’ by Yemi Alade, ‘MMS’ by Asake featuring Wizkid, ‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and ‘Higher’ by Burna Boy.
This marks Tems’ second Grammy win. In 2023, she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance for the song ‘Wait For U’ with American hip-hop stars Future and Drake.
South Africa’s Tyla won the award for her hit ‘Water’ in 2024 in the category’s first edition.
Tems received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career total to eight. She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning).
While she was on the Grammy stage, her mother was standing by her side as she was giving her speech.
In the recording, Tems, who hides her curves, suddenly turned to acknowledge her mother. She disclosed that her mother had done so much for her and her brother, as she appreciated her.
The ‘Love Me Jeje’ crooner wished her mother a happy birthday.
In the post, Singer Tems also appreciated God for bringing so far in her career. According to her, God has changed her life so much, and she was so grateful for it.
The female music star also thanked her team for their efforts. She mentioned her stylists, Dunsin Right, Sarah, Muyiwa, and Ashanti for the great work they have all been doing in her team.
Reactions as Tems Wins 2 Grammy Award
On the heels of the 67th Grammy Awards, Tems feat has since generated abuzz on Social media, with excited fans and supporters of the singer sending her congratulatory messages.
Davido and Ayra Starr were also among the artists who sent her felicitations on their X pages for the Grammy big win.
Davido wrote: “Congratulations to my one and only @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby, we are proud of you!”
Ayra Star wrote: “Temssbabyyyyyyy congratulations my love !!!!”
Some elated fans and supporters of the “Love Me Jeje” crooner also celebrated her.

President Tinubu congratulated other Nigerian artists nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards: Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna Boy.
He thanked the patriots for putting Nigeria on the global map of great achievers in the music industry and for showcasing the country’s creative excellence.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also congratulated Tems.
The Governor stated that the award received by Tems is an affirmation of Lagos as truly the home of entertainment, creativity, tourism, culture, and arts.
