Old Mutual Ghana has announced the appointment of Roy Punungwe as its new Group CEO, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the financial institution.

Punungwe takes over from Tavona Biza, who has successfully led the company for nearly six years, cementing Old Mutual Ghana’s position as a leading provider of financial solutions in the country.

Punungwe, who joined Old Mutual Limited in 2015, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Over the course of his career, he has held several senior positions across South Africa, Botswana, and Malawi. Notably, he served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Old Mutual’s Botswana business before moving to Malawi to take on the role of Managing Director of the Life Assurance business. This extensive experience in business growth, leadership development, and stakeholder value creation positions him to take Old Mutual Ghana to even greater heights.

Additionally, Punungwe is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. His combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and global exposure makes him a strong fit for Old Mutual Ghana as it looks to expand and innovate in the increasingly competitive financial services sector.

The company’s vision to provide comprehensive financial solutions that empower individuals and businesses will remain at the heart of its operations.

The leadership change officially took effect on 1 January 2025, and Old Mutual Ghana has assured customers that there will be no disruptions in service during the transition. The company remains committed to delivering exceptional service and ensuring the financial well-being of its customers.
