Stonebwoy Acknowledges Nigeria’s Lead In African Music

Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall artist, Stonebwoy has emphasized the need for unity in the African music industry.

He revealed that reducing ego and selfishness will help solidify its global influence. “When African music comes to play, Nigeria would be the lead,” he admitted in an interview.

“But when Nigeria speaks, they will tell you about the contributions that have been made for it to be in the lead.

“Aside from organizing shows like Due Concepts is doing, we also have to reduce the ego and selfishness and give credit so that it becomes a complete circle.”

The artist further highlighted the significance of collaboration, particularly his recent performance at Madison Square Garden alongside Nigerian superstar Davido.

“We just performed at MSG with Davido, one of Africa’s greatest. I have to send very big love to my brother because ever since we started connecting in person, it has been a blessing, and the world loves it.”

Stonebwoy

According to the multiple award-winning dancehall artist, appearing on Davido’s show at Madison Square Garden was amazing, citing the energy, the crowd, and the love. “There were Ghanaians in the crowd too, and that was beautiful to see,” he added.

Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and others have been pivotal in pushing the boundaries of African music globally.

Stonebwoy, while proud of Ghana’s musical heritage, has expressed admiration for how Nigeria’s music industry has created a lasting influence on the continent and beyond.

He has also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among African artists, believing that the continent can continue to grow and reach even greater heights by working together.

His acknowledgment of Nigeria’s musical dominance is part of a larger conversation about the continued rise of African music on the global stage, where both Ghanaian and Nigerian artists play key roles.

The Ghanaian superstar Stonebwoy revealed that beyond the fame and awards, his greatest goal is to leave behind a lasting impact.

He stated that his focus is on building a legacy that outlives him.

“A good name is better than riches! That doesn’t mean riches are not good, but it’s just better to have a good name as well.”

Stonebwoy

The artist reflected on how legends like Bob Marley continue to influence the world through their families and the name they built.

“Look at Bob Marley—he has been gone physically for years, but his kids and grandkids are pushing the Marley name like never before. That’s what I want to leave behind. When the physical representation is not here, another body can assume that name and run it.”

Stonebwoy

He also spoke about how his music serves as a source of encouragement to others.

“People tell me, ‘Bro, I used your love song to get a girl yesterday!’ And I say, good for you. Others say, ‘Because of your song, I didn’t give up.’

“That’s what it’s about—humanitarian service. Whether big or small, I just want to continue making a global impact through my music.”

Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy emphasized that he is committed to using his platform to promote unity, inspire people, and give back to society through charity.

“Anybody who has ever used music to cause division is long gone. Music is supposed to bring people together, and that’s what I’ll continue doing.”
