Popular Ghanaian broadcaster, Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii has addressed the media for the first time following the eye injury he sustained during an assignment in Dormaa.
The press briefing, held at his residence in Oyarifa, Accra, was intended to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident, provide updates on his recovery, and respond to public concerns.
The journalist was accompanied by his wife and family, who offered their support as he recounted the harrowing experience.
According to Kofi Adomah, the unfortunate incident began after he received a call from the Dormaahene, inviting him to cover the Kwafie Festival. Despite feeling unwell upon arrival, he decided to honour the request and began his coverage. “As I moved to that location, I suddenly saw a gunman fire in my direction, and I began to bleed in my eye,” Kofi Adomah said.
The Ghanaian broadcaster also expressed his shock over the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Nana Agyeman Badu II’s failure to check on him following the eye injury he sustained while covering the Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro.
“I travelled to Dormaa with my team to honour the invitation. While covering the event, I was suddenly shot, and I began to bleed profusely. I completely lost vision in one eye.”

Kofi Adomah said he was rushed to Dormaa Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Despite his desire to return and continue covering the event, his condition deteriorated.
He was eventually flown to Accra and later transported abroad for further medical care.
Addressing the ongoing reports that the Dormaahene has not reached out to him since the shooting, Kofi confirmed them to be true.
“I’m truly surprised. I returned to my hometown to cover a significant celebration and ended up injured, yet I’ve not received even a phone call from the Dormaahene. I’m not expecting money or compensation—I just think a simple gesture of concern would have been the right thing to do.”

Kofi Adomah got emotional as he singled out his wife, Miracle Adomah for praise during his first public appearance after undergoing eye surgery abroad.
He explained that his wife has been very supportive ever since the incident, adding that not all wives would have stuck around during these trying times.
“I would like to appeal to every Ghanaian to thank my wife for me. In times like these, others would run away. At night, she does not sleep. She has been by my side. When this happened, people wanted to post the video, but she stopped them, saying that posting the video would not solve the problem.
“She said my husband is Bono, my children are also Bono, and so if I am to disgrace them, I would also be affected. Nana, God bless you. I know God knows what he is doing.”

The press conference also featured remarks from his family, who expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and clarified aspects of the incident that had previously raised speculation.
Ghanaians sympathised with Kofi Adomah.
“In this life errr, those who break their backs for people don’t get anyone to wheel them around when they’re incapacitated. God will see you through, my brother, and he’ll reward you for all your good works.”

“Imagine working for so many years, saving up for something better for your children, only to end up using all your life savings for treatment. May we escape this.”

“This is so sad. His only crime was going to capture the culture of his people, and this happened to him. I wish him a speedy recovery, Ghana needs him alive.”

Kofi Adomah’s Wife Calls out Dormaahene

It was a sad moment as Miracle Adomah, the wife of Kofi Adomah, spoke at a press conference on Thursday, March 13, 2025, to brief Ghanaians about the state of his health.
Addressing the gathering, Miracle Adomah stated that she does not want to believe that that people of traditional rulers in Bono value outsiders over their natives.
Miracle Adomah also explained that in her husband’s eye treatment process, showing concern and empathy goes a long way to help as it is not always about money.
Her calm demeanour soon gave way to anger as she began to open up on rumors that went rife when she and her husband were outside the country.
She channelled her anger towards the Dormaahene, sending a direct message that she had forgiven him, although she failed to delve on what warranted that forgiveness.
“Dormaahene should understahd that there is a God. He should understand that I was born into Christianity. I know a God who speaks for people. I am telling him that when he goes to church that is if he even goes to church he should know that we have forgiven him. It is not all about money. Ghanaians should let us breathe it is not all about money.”

Miracle Adomah was emotionally overwhelmed at that point and had to be comforted by persons at the press conference.
