- 648 contacts identified after exposure to persons with COVID-19 at Accra Girls SHS – Adutwum
A total of 684 contacts who got close to some eight persons who tested positive for COVID-19 at the Accra Girls Senior High School have been identified by health officials.
This was disclosed by a Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum at a press conference organized by the Information Ministry on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
“At this point, 648 contacts have been identified and a number of them have been tested,” the Deputy Minister said.
Six students of the Accra Girls SHS, a teacher and his spouse have tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks after final year students were allowed to return to school to prepare for their exit exams.
Students carried out demonstration in fear of the outbreak of COVID-19 in the schools.
Some parents thronged the premises of the Accra Girls SHS yesterday, July 6, 2020, seeking to return their wards back home following the COVID-19 situation at the school.
Dr. Adutwum at the press briefing allayed the fears of the parents saying the situation has been put under control.
The Information Ministry has provided an update on the health of President Akufo-Addo.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, told journalists at the Information Ministry on Tuesday that the President continues to self-isolates at the Presidential Villa, Jubilee House.
According to him, the President has entered day three of his self-isolation after he was exposed to coronavirus.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah told the media that the President continues to conduct State affairs from the Presidential Villa via telephone calls and other communication channels.
Yaw Osafo-Marfo has tested positive for COVID-19.

This was diclosed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah.
Addressing the press, he said the disclosure was in consonance with the government’s transparency and with the permission of the Minister.
According to him, “In a separate development that has come to us this morning, Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has been informed that his sample given for test has been returned positive. He will therefore as of today commence treatment for COVID-19 from home…”
