The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced an urgent collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to restore electricity to several communities affected by a heavy rainstorm that swept through the Greater Accra Region on Sunday, May 18.

In a press statement released on Monday, May 19, ECG confirmed that extensive flooding caused by the downpour disrupted power supply in numerous areas, prompting precautionary disconnections in line with NADMO’s safety directives.

In a statement, ECG explained, “After the rainfall, NADMO requested that the above-mentioned areas be isolated due to the flooding.”

“Outages caused by transient tripping are restored soon after the rainstorm.
“However, permanent faults require full rectification by our engineers and may take longer.”
