Interior Ministry Dismisses Fake Security Recruitment Message

The Ministry of the Interior has issued a strong public warning against a fraudulent recruitment message currently circulating on social media platforms, falsely claiming to offer access to enlistment opportunities in Ghana’s Security Services.

According to the Ministry, the claim, which includes a Google Form link and a deadline for submission, is entirely fake and unauthorised.

The statement was released by the Public Affairs and Communications Unit of the Ministry in Accra. It responds directly to a widely shared post inviting unsuspecting members of the public to apply for recruitment through a so-called “Data Gathering Form” hosted on Google Forms.

The link associated with the scam is https://forms.gle/TQ5pXEB22i1S1H5P9, with a deadline listed as June 10, 2025.

In a formal announcement, the Ministry of the Interior declared: “The Ministry wishes to state that this message is FALSE and UNAUTHORISED.”

The Ministry further clarified that no official recruitment into Ghana’s Security Services is underway at this time, nor has any platform been authorised to carry out data collection or recruitment exercises on its behalf.

The Ministry emphasized that all valid recruitment drives are advertised in the national dailies, not through unofficial channels such as social media or Google Forms.

“The Ministry of the Interior has not authorised any individual, group, or third-party platform or provided Google Form link to conduct recruitment or collect data on its behalf”

This alert comes as cybercrime continues to pose a growing threat to Ghanaian citizens, with impersonation and fraud schemes targeting those eager for public sector employment. The Ministry underscored the risks of engaging with fraudulent links, which may lead to identity theft, financial scams, or broader data breaches.

The Ministry advised the public to exercise vigilance and refrain from interacting with the scam in any way. In particular, citizens have been urged not to click the link, provide any personal information, or share the message with others.

Members of the public who have already interacted with the fake link or those with suspicions about similar schemes have been advised to reach out to the Ministry of the Interior through its official communication channels.

These include its Public Affairs and Communications Unit phone line (0303-956596), official email (info@mint.gov.gh), and verified social media handles on Facebook and X (@MinterGh). Additional updates and information can also be found on the Ministry’s website: www.mint.gov.gh.

The Ministry concluded its advisory with a reaffirmation of its role in safeguarding protection of citizens, businesses and institutions.

“The Ministry of the Interior is committed to ensuring internal security and maintenance of law and order in the country”

As of now, no formal investigation has been announced into the origin of the fraudulent message. However, the Ministry’s clear disavowal of any ongoing recruitment and its proactive guidance to the public suggest a strong institutional push to combat misinformation and digital fraud.

The Ministry’s stance also serves as a cautionary note to digital users across Ghana, urging heightened awareness in an environment increasingly shaped by social media influence and online scams.

The false recruitment message, which may seem credible to many due to the use of official language and timelines, has exposed the need for more public education on verifying information before engagement.

In its closing note, the Public Affairs and Communications Unit emphasized that all future announcements from the Ministry will continue to be disseminated through trusted, formal outlets only.
