Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur, Sarkodie has announced that he will be releasing an album this year.
Titled ‘No Pressure’ the artist will release it coming 9th July 2021. According to the successful Ghanaian rapper, his ‘No Pressure’ album was executively produced by himself and renowned artist manager, KJ Spio. He made this known on his social media page where he posted a very catchy and classic video of himself and wrote: “NO PRESSURE ‘album out 09-07-21”.
Reactions to his post
Sarkodie’s announcement has received several mixed reactions. Some were extremely excited about it and mentioned that they will patiently wait for the release. Some who were obviously impressed with the announcement also praised Sarkodie for being hardworking. According to his fans, it’s been 10 years down the line and Sarkodie is still releasing albums.
That notwithstanding, some others hailed him for how carefully he brands and promotes himself. Meanwhile, others stated that they were expecting him to release his most anticipated album ‘Black Power’. They also noted that they will wait for it to drop but in the meantime will anticipate ‘No Pressure’. Others were also quick to note that the release date of his album will be just a day to his birthday. Some reactions to his post:
Sarkodie’s announcement comes as a surprise;to several people as he earlier hinted that he won’t be releasing any song for a while. That notwithstanding, if Sarkodie releases ‘No Pressure’, then it will become Sarkodie’s seventh studio album;as he already has six solid albums to his name. Some of his albums include ‘Highest’ (2017) ‘Sarkology’ (2014) ‘Rapperholic’ (2012) and ‘Maakye’ his first, released in 2009.
Sarkodie’s ‘Black love’ project
Sarkodie last released album was in 2019 when he dropped his ‘Black Love’ project in December that year. The fifteen-track album saw features from fellow African artists like, Maleek Berry, Tekno, Bisa Kdei, Stonebwoy, Idris Elba, amongst others.
It is worth mentioning that Sarkodie over the years has been very intentional with how he releases his music. It can be recalled that, in an earlier interview with OkayAfrica, Sarkodie disclosed that he strategically releases singles since fans are likely to appreciate the music more before releasing the full album.
“I really want [fans] to focus on the singles than pushing more of the albums. Because what I realized was if you put out a whole project, sometimes the fans miss the records if it’s too much. I rather want them to have time to enjoy at least four or five songs and then later everything drops”.
