Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on Ghanaians to embrace ethical leadership and moral courage as essential pillars for national development at the 93rd Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Winneba.
Representing President John Dramani Mahama at the annual convention, which brings together thousands of the faithful for spiritual renewal and dialogue, the Vice President emphasized that a nation’s strength is rooted in the integrity of its citizens and leaders.
She outlined the government’s vision for a more accountable and transparent society under the theme: “Moral Decadence and Our Responsibilities in the Light of Islamic Teachings.”
“A nation is strengthened by moral courage and ethical consistency. As citizens, we serve our country when we stand for what is right, speak against injustice, and uphold values in both public and private lives. It is within this moral framework that the government must also act”
Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang
During her keynote address, Professor Opoku-Agyemang praised the Ahmadiyya Community for its steadfast dedication to peace and national progress, noting that their motto, “Love for All, Hatred for None,” remains a vital lesson for the entire country.

Anti-Corruption And Public Accountability
She reflected on the collective responsibility to oppose injustice and act with integrity, arguing that Quranic lessons on ethical leadership provide a necessary blueprint for modern governance. The Vice President reiterated that the current administration is committed to translating these moral values into tangible policy actions.
Addressing the specific theme of moral decadence, the Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a rigorous anti-corruption agenda.
She disclosed that measures have been implemented to improve coordination among key agencies, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Attorney-General’s Department.
According to Professor Opoku-Agyemang, these institutional reforms are designed to ensure that accountability is not merely a slogan but a functional reality in the public sector.
Central to this effort is the enforcement of a strong Code of Conduct for all political appointees and public officials. She urged those entrusted with public office to practice discipline and prioritize national interests above personal gain, noting that the restoration of public trust depends on the visible integrity of leadership across all levels of the state.

Agricultural Progress
Beyond governance, the Vice President highlighted the Ahmadiyya Community’s practical contributions to the economy, specifically through the Pomadze Poultry Initiative. This project is a key component of the government’s broader agricultural strategy under the “Feed Ghana” and “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” programmes.
By boosting domestic poultry production, the initiative aims to stabilize food prices, reduce reliance on imports, and generate sustainable jobs for the youth. The revival of the Pomadze facility is viewed as a model for how faith-based organizations can partner with the state to achieve food security.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also acknowledged the community’s extensive investments in healthcare and education.
She gave special mention to the Lajna Imaillah, the women’s wing of the community, for their humanitarian services and role in fostering social fairness. These efforts, she argued, represent the spirit of service to humanity that the government seeks to replicate nationwide.
Concluding her address, the Vice President expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian people for the trust reposed in the Mahama administration during its first year of the renewed mandate.

She outlined progress in economic stabilization and skills development, promising that the government would remain focused on infrastructure and social justice.
“In this new year, let us remain committed to faith, unity, and service to our dear nation. I thank the people of Ghana for placing their trust in His Excellency’s administration and giving us the opportunity to serve”
