It seems Nigerian movie producers are not relenting on producing social;justice-themed movies as they plan to address several issues in the country through their movies.

It can be recalled that recently, Nigerian actress, and United Nations Population;Fund (UNFPA) Regional Ambassador for West and Central Africa, Stephanie Linus Okere also;released a short film that addressed the issue of sexual and gender-based awareness series.

The actress who doubles as creator and producer noted that several women face sexual assault in Nigeria. However, they fail to report cases of sexual abuse due to how some policemen mishandle the case when reported.

“Victims of sexual violence are often let down by the criminal justice system. The first of many obstacles most of them face is reporting the sexual assault to the police. This video captures the experiences of some victims whose attempt;to report their cases were not treated with empathy, professionalism, and discretion”. Also,. But,. However,. Meanwhile,.

According to her, gender-based violence is a clarion call that needs to be addressed. She, therefore, called on authorities to help sensitize women on the issue. And also, to get the policemen to take the right action against those who sexually abuse others. Also,. However,.

That notwithstanding Stephanie also produced another movie titled ‘Hey woman’. ‘Hey Woman’ is a monologue that creatively speaks on various distressing thoughts;that cripples a woman’s mind in the face of abuse and oppression.

In the short movie, Stephanie Linus is seen with drum beats echoing in a dark;background, as she calls for action through the monologue that also addresses topics on sexual violence and oppression. Also,. Meanwhile,. That aside,. Also,.
