Ghanaian musician, Castro.

Ghanaian musician, Theophilus Tagoe who is known as Castro is set to be declared dead today and this has made him the number one trending topic on the microblogging app, Twitter.

It can be recalled that Castro and his friend, Janet, went missing after they went jet skiing at the Ada Estuary on July 6, 2014.

According to the law, a person can only be declared legally dead after seven years by a court, where the person in question has not been seen or heard from in seven years despite diligent and persistent efforts to find him. Based on this, the Ghana Police Service and the relevant authorities will be declaring him dead.

This has garnered some reactions from Ghanaians who have shared their fondest memories about him.

Kwaw Kese, for instance paying tribute to Castro wrote: “Sad how it ended up Breda… Our songs #TheWorld ‘monkey Dey work baboon Dey chop’ and #YenfaOdoMbom is timeless… Thanks for all the good vibes. Castro forever”.

@Fortheonestella: “We know you are somewhere and our fingers remain crossed. You can’t abandon us like that so please, it’s time to return, cordially”.

@countryof4: “One of my favorite song was ‘Adonai’ with Sarkodie. REST IN PEACE LEGEND”.

@Bidiewuraba: “How I wish Castro was still around and working hand in hand with SHATTA WALE to make our music industry great and strong”.

@Founda_: “Castro will now be declared as a dead person since today marks exactly 7years he got lost. Tears in my eyes”.

@QwekuRai wrote: “Where Castro is right now is still a mystery”.

@ObibiniTruthGh: “Exactly 7yrs ago today… Castro and Janet… RIP”.

@Nunguajoeyb: “Like if Castro was alive, we won’t hear ‘Wele, s3b3, kontomire’ in our music industry”.

Meanwhile, Highlife musician and songwriter of the year, Kofi Kinaata, has described plans to declare Castro dead per the provisions of the constitution as unnecessary.

In his view, such a move is unnecessary because the family and loved ones of Castro are still suffering from his absence.

In an interview, he said: “Personally, his absence is causing me a lot [of pain], and him being declared dead will not change anything for the family, friends, and loved ones since we still don’t see him around.

“Again, we don’t feel his presence or contribution in our lives, which is a great loss. So, what is the point of declaring him dead? The declaration will not change how we feel about his absence and the many tears that are being shed for what befell him since we are already in pain. Declaring him dead will not kill him or prevent him from coming back home when he feels like doing that if he is not dead”.

Well, there have been varied opinions regarding his death, as some individuals just like Kofi Kinaata and the family of Castro still have high hopes that the musician will return someday.
