Bradley Barcola has described his move to Liverpool as a source of “great pride” after completing a blockbuster transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, with the France international admitting that the prospect of playing in front of the Anfield faithful played a major role in his decision.

Liverpool confirmed on Monday that the 23-year-old forward had signed a five-year contract after completing his medical and finalising the move at the AXA Training Centre.

The deal is worth an initial £106 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially taking the total package to £123 million.

The transfer makes Barcola Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing, behind Alexander Isak’s £125 million arrival from Newcastle in 2025.

It also represents one of the biggest investments of the summer as new head coach Andoni Iraola continues reshaping Liverpool’s attacking options.

Barcola has now become the third signing for the Reds following the arrival of Ronald Araujo on loan from FC Barcelona and Victor Munoz also from Spain.

Barcola ‘Very Happy’ to Join Liverpool

Barcola made no attempt to hide his excitement after completing the long-awaited transfer, revealing that he had spent the final days of negotiations with his family while waiting for the deal to be concluded.

“It’s a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I’m very happy. It took a long time but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.”

The Frenchman has been handed the No.29 shirt he wore during his time at PSG and has already set his sights on helping Liverpool challenge for major honours.

His immediate ambition is winning the Premier League. “I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League – it’s one of my biggest dreams in my life,” he said. “It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term.”

Anfield Atmosphere Convinced the Frenchman

Barcola’s attraction to Liverpool was not based solely on the club’s reputation. His experiences as an opponent at Anfield left a lasting impression and ultimately helped make the decision easier.

The winger faced Liverpool twice during his time with PSG in Champions League knockout ties and experienced first-hand the intensity generated by the home supporters. “Honestly, it’s the passion of the fans,” Barcola said when asked what attracted him to Liverpool.

“I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players. When I knew about Liverpool’s interest in me, I didn’t ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me.”

The prospect of returning to Anfield, this time with the supporters behind him rather than against him, is something Barcola is already anticipating. “I just want to play, that’s all I’m waiting for. It will be incredible,” he added.

His familiarity with English opposition should also help his transition. Barcola believes his pace and direct approach are well suited to the demands of Premier League football.

Illustrious Time at PSG

Barcola arrives at Liverpool after a highly successful three-year spell at PSG, where he made 152 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 35 assists. He won consecutive Champions League titles, three Ligue 1 crowns and two French Cups during his time in Paris.

His development began at Olympique Lyon, where he made his senior debut in 2021 before joining PSG in August 2023.

He has since established himself as a France international, earning 28 caps and scoring six goals. Three of those goals came at the 2026 World Cup, where he featured in every match as France finished fourth.

At Liverpool, Barcola is expected to provide versatility across the forward line, with his acceleration, dribbling and ability to attack defenders offering Iraola another dangerous attacking weapon.

The winger also revealed that conversations with the Liverpool boss helped convince him that Anfield was the right destination. “He told me that my quality brought a real plus to this team and that he was counting on me, that he had confidence in me,” Barcola said.

That confidence could prove crucial as Liverpool seek to rebuild their attack following a major squad transition. Barcola joins a forward group that includes Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and fellow summer arrival Victor Muñoz.

For Barcola, however, the objective is straightforward. After conquering Europe with PSG, he wants to help Liverpool reclaim domestic supremacy.

And after finally completing the move he had been waiting for, the new No.29 is eager to get started.
