The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) is participating in GITEX Nigeria 2026, a major technology and innovation exhibition being held in Abuja and Lagos, in collaboration with the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI).

The participation forms part of GEPA’s strategic efforts to promote Ghanaian products and services, particularly in the technology and digital services sector, and to leverage technology-driven platforms to expand Ghana’s export footprint across regional and international markets.

Ahead of the main exhibition, GEPA undertook a series of high level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations between Ghana and Nigeria and positioning Ghanaian businesses for new opportunities.

As part of these engagements, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Marketing and Public Relations, Mr. Raymond Rashid Kramer, paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Sadiq Abdulai Abu, in Abuja.

Discussions during the courtesy call centered on Ghana’s participation in GITEX Nigeria 2026, GEPA’s mandate to develop, promote and coordinate Ghana’s export sector, and avenues for deepening Ghana-Nigeria trade cooperation, especially in the digital economy and technology space.

Mr. Kramer briefed the Ambassador on GEPA’s focus at this year’s exhibition, which includes promoting Ghanaian technology-enabled services, digital solutions, and value-added products with export potential, as well as connecting Ghanaian exporters and tech entrepreneurs with investors and international buyers.

H.E. Sadiq Abdulai Abu commended GEPA for its proactive role in promoting Ghana’s export agenda and assured the team of the Embassy’s full support in facilitating trade linkages and engagements during and beyond the GITEX event.

‘’Nigeria remains one of Ghana’s key trading partners in the ECOWAS region and that platforms like GITEX offer immense opportunities to scale up collaboration. At the exhibition grounds in Lagos, GEPA, together with the Ghana Consulate General in Lagos, represented by Ghana’s Trade Attaché in Nigeria, Mrs. Doris Asetena-Mensah, is actively engaging stakeholders.’’

The team has been interacting with technology companies, investors, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and other industry players on business opportunities available to Ghanaian enterprises within the digital and technology ecosystem.

Ghana’s Stand Draws Interest, Offers Export Briefings to Investors

The GEPA stand has attracted significant attention from visitors seeking information on Ghana’s export potential, investment climate, and the range of services offered by the Authority to support exporters. Officials are providing on-site briefings on export procedures, product standards, and market entry opportunities, while also exploring potential partnerships for Ghanaian businesses.

A highlight of GEPA’s participation was a visit to the Ghana stand with the GEPA team and the Ghana Consulate officials and was briefed on the Authority’s work to promote Ghana’s export potential and drive non-traditional export growth.

Ghana’s participation in GITEX Nigeria is about enhanced collaboration between Lagos State and Ghanaian institutions, particularly in technology, entrepreneurship, and trade.

GEPA officials say GITEX Nigeria has become a critical platform for business-to-business linkages, innovation showcasing, and investment matchmaking. For Ghana, the event aligns with the Authority’s broader strategy to diversify exports beyond traditional commodities and promote services, including ICT and other technology-driven sectors, as key growth areas.

The collaboration with CBI, an agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs that supports SMEs from developing countries to access European and other international markets, is expected to further enhance the competitiveness and market readiness of Ghanaian businesses participating through GEPA.

According to GEPA, participation in GITEX Nigeria 2026 is not just about exhibition, but about building sustainable commercial relationships, understanding emerging market trends, and positioning Ghanaian enterprises to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and global digital trade.

GEPA Targets AfCFTA and Global Digital Trade Opportunities

The Authority reiterated its commitment to supporting Ghanaian exporters to leverage technology to improve product quality, market access, and value addition, noting that digital trade is increasingly shaping the future of exports.

GITEX, which is one of the largest technology exhibitions globally, expanded its African footprint with its Nigerian edition, drawing participants from across Africa and beyond.

The 2026 edition in Abuja and Lagos has brought together policymakers, technology leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to explore innovations in artificial intelligence, fintech, e-commerce, digital infrastructure, and start-up development.

For Ghana, officials say the lessons, networks, and partnerships from GITEX Nigeria 2026 will feed into ongoing export development programmes and help accelerate the growth of Ghana’s non-traditional export sector.

GEPA is expected to continue its engagements throughout the exhibition, holding targeted meetings with potential partners and investors interested in Ghana’s technology and export ecosystem.
