Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (ZGRL), operator of the Akyem Gold Mine, has partnered with the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority to back the upcoming 2026 Invest Ghana Summit and the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards.
Unveiled during a high-profile launch ceremony in Accra, the strategic collaboration brings together key state figures including Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare alongside officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre to champion national industrial growth.
“Ghana continues to demonstrate the qualities investors look for – stability, opportunity and a clear vision for growth.”
Jason Zhang,
Building on this momentum, the alliance serves to highlight corporate confidence in the local economy while spotlighting the critical convergence of sustainable extractive practices and national development.
The Invest Ghana Summit provides an essential interactive framework for international investors, policymakers, and industry executives to evaluate emerging commercial prospects, while the prestigious Ghana Club 100 platform formally acknowledges leading corporate entities driving economic resilience.
Economic Contributions and Local Empowerment
Operating firmly within the country’s extractive landscape, ZGRL demonstrated substantial fiscal impact by generating over GH¢7 billion in direct economic value across the preceding year.
This comprehensive financial footprint included GH¢1.41 billion disbursed directly to the state in statutory taxes and royalties, alongside GH¢4.19 billion channeled into domestic procurement networks.

According to company disclosures, the Akyem Gold Mine sustains 1,235 direct positions, incorporating 597 individuals drawn directly from its ten designated host communities through direct employment or contractor arrangements.
Highlighting this localized strategy, Vice President for Sustainability and External Relations Jason Zhang noted that the organization’s operational track record proves that responsible investment successfully generates broad employment, bolsters local supply chains, and accelerates state revenues.
Environmental Stewardship and Biodiversity Innovations
Beyond commercial metrics, the mining enterprise has instituted aggressive environmental restoration frameworks, successfully rehabilitating 317 hectares of degraded land in close collaboration with the Forestry Commission.
This proactive footprint recovery equates to more than three times the total acreage directly disturbed by ongoing mineral extraction operations.
Furthermore, the organization is pioneering a large-scale biodiversity offset scheme within the sensitive Atewa forest landscape through a decade-long conservation agreement.
To complement these land-use strategies, the firm has introduced 46 advanced, new-energy haul units including fully electric configurations designed to curb operational emissions and transition the site toward cleaner mining technologies.
Navigating Sector Imperatives and Strategic Needs
The necessity for these cooperative private-public initiatives stems from an urgent demand to align large-scale mineral extraction with sustainable socioeconomic transformation and transparent environmental governance.

Extractive industries operating within developing markets face mounting pressure to transcend traditional profit models by embedding rigorous local content policies, community reinvestment, and aggressive carbon-reduction roadmaps into their core operating models.
By anchoring its operational ethos in local procurement, land reclamation, and green fleet upgrades, the firm addresses widespread societal skepticism regarding resource extraction.
Ultimately, partnerships with promotional authorities bridge the gap between foreign direct investment targets and grassroots developmental needs, ensuring that national mineral wealth translates into enduring economic diversification and ecological stability.
